So, when are you gonna give me the tour of Jurassic Park?

After feeding time.

Karlifornia 04-09-2009 06:51 PM

I have a 98 Toyota Corolla. If you want to see what it looks like, just turn your head towards the nearest road. There should be one going past.

JediKooter 04-09-2009 06:53 PM

Hey! Was that you?

I would have stopped, but I had to come home and post this reply.

Makes sense.

I was going to buy you a beer.

mauchow 04-09-2009 07:00 PM

And behind that Corolla, you'll see my Camry or my wife's Avalon.

Buccaneer 04-09-2009 07:02 PM

Last week, I got a 2008 Toyota Rav4.

Schmidty 04-09-2009 07:02 PM

'99 Ford Escort wagon and a '98 Ford Ranger.

They both run wonderfully (the Escort has a rebuilt engine with only 30k miles), and even better - no car payments!!

I'm not a car person, so having a sexy vehicle doesn't mean anything to me.

JediKooter 04-09-2009 07:04 PM

Looks like Toyota is winning so far.

We went 2 years without car payments (we also have a 2000 Saturn). Unfortunately, my 1999 Honda CR-V decided to get terminally ill last week.

we're 2 years post payments on teh vibe and I have to say having my mother's Impala to drive as a second car while she was in the hospital became VERY convenient. I may start looking for my pickup truck in the fall. I hear GM models might be really cheap.....

FrogMan 04-09-2009 07:53 PM

currently driving a 2005 Saturn Ion for which the end of the lease can't come fast enough. Pulled the trigger on a 2009 Mazda 3 last night, should take delivery in the next couple of weeks... :)

I am currently leasing an 07 VW Jetta. I leased because I knew I'd be in a better financial situation when the lease was up then when I entered into it and sure enough this looks like it will be true. But being relatively young, I think I'm going to just get a nicer VW (Passet or CC) rather than driving something that is conspicuously wealthy, even if I could afford it.

Sun Tzu you are a success at life.

Sun Tzu 04-09-2009 09:08 PM

Thank you.

Oh...and after looking @ the pic I realized it's not blatantly obvious that we're standing next to a Prius.

So yeah, I drive a Prius. Insert joke about pulling my mancard *here*

Lathum 04-09-2009 09:08 PM

2007 Mazda Tribute.

Our other car is a Chavy Impala, but it's my wifes company car and the free gas/ insurance/etc.. is a great perk.

Buccaneer 04-09-2009 09:44 PM

Mazda 3 must be the Official Car of FOFC.

I'm really surprised by how many people that have new cars. I don't get it. Seems like a waste of money to me.

Then again, as many people here know - I am cheap as hell.

For me it was a no brainer. I know jack all about cars, and unless you're buying a real cheap used vehicle the difference in interest rates between new and used (at least when I bought) evened out the cost in a hell of a hurry. Throw in the differences in warranty terms between the two and new was the way to go.

Different strokes and all, but given the peace of mind/security, more than made up for the difference.

Peregrine 04-09-2009 11:07 PM

I have bought a couple of new cars in the last five years (before the Infiniti I had a Mazda RX-8) but that is highly unusual for me - previous to that I had the same car for about eight years. I plan on keeping my G35 as long as I can though.

B & B 04-09-2009 11:22 PM

This is what Im driving, but not my exact car.

What I mean is, I'd live in all other 49 states before living in wacked out left coast California.

But yeah, thats my ride.

johnnyshaka 04-09-2009 11:23 PM

With the 2nd child we got rid of our oldest beater...my '91 VW GTI and purchased a used '06 Dodge Grand Caravan for the wife to drive the kiddies around in. I now drive a '94 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.

Nice not to have a car payment...let alone, two of them.

I will never buy another used car.

I haven't had bad axpieriences, it's just worth it to spend the extra money IMO

See, that's where my question lays - Why is it worth it? I could get a new car, but I don't understand why I should take on more debt for something that gets me from one place to another. Meh, to each their own I guess.
