human shields update

Looks like we might have bombed their bus. No confirmation yet.

and to think they only wanted to save a bus :) I really hope this story is found out to be false. Enough people will die without the human shields getting hurt.

The thing that leaps to my mind immediately is that we generally have control of western Iraq and probably don't have much interest in attacking buses rolling westward to Jordan. Knowing the hardball that Saddam's forces are playing, I can imagine something along the lines of human shields forcibly or voluntarily put onto these buses, driven out to this nowhere place, and blown up or shot up or whatever, to produce the necessary propaganda. It's a bit of a reach, I know, but none of this feels right. Besides, it's just a bit too convenient for Iraqi purposes that this should happen.

I hope it isn't true. It would be more sad news on top of the civilian deaths in the van yesterday.

Don't know what happened here but if you are going to put yourself in harms way during a conflict in which you have no business being there, personally, I don't really care what happens to you. Calous I know, but that's the way I feel.

I pretty much agree. It's sad, but they put themselves in harms way.

Did anybody else on board die? If so, they weren't very good shields.
