larry - do you want to make a ruling on self-voting before voting starts?

larrymcg421 05-27-2009 01:13 PM

Yeah, I'd say no on self voting.

Abe's nation is solid all the way through IMO. Im not sold on Sir Arthur Lewis as an ecomomist but the rest of picks more than make up for it. I really like the leadership and the military control this nation would have. Everything fits in nicely with his Geographical Location as well. This was the most well thought out nation IMO.

I have the other people in place to minimize Hitler's weaknesses while employing his strengths.

I kept going back and forth between BK and CW for my top pick; they were that close to each other. But in the end, I liked the overall composition of BK's nation slightly better than CW's. Abe had a really good draft as well.

I thought your Colliseum pick was underrated and has gone unmentioned and I liked most of what you did. Athough Hitler did have his strengths he is still a cowardly dictator IMO and got where he did by taking advantage of the weak.

Yeah I don't disagree with any of that, and he was an evil man, but he was very charismatic and I was thinking that Ghandi and others could bring out the softer side of him.

DaddyTorgo 05-27-2009 02:25 PM

yay people who have me on their lists!

not sure why i'm experiencing a lack-of-love at this point. I think i'm quite strong.

Again, thanks to larry for a great draft and a TON of fun!

Danny 05-27-2009 02:37 PM

Indeed, Larry did a great job and it was a lot of fun.

I do want to add that this was a tough thing to pick because 4 and 5 could easily be 1-3 the breaking point for me was how functional they would be.

Thanks, guys! This was a fun draft. I'm glad it went over well, and despite some tough judgment calls, we didn't really have any big spats.

I'll set a deadline of Sunday midnight for the voting.

Apathetic Lurker 05-27-2009 04:29 PM

pfft..no one put me on any list...guess some of you will be getting a visit from Iron Felix to discuss your .."unfortunate state of thought"

Great job by all! The nature of the draft made everyone a very military nation. Which is funny because its sets it up for failure, or at least massive turmoil.

Marco Polo and Locke were my favorite pics of the draft.

Great, graded last by Alfred E neuman.....go back to your magazine covers....

Danny 05-28-2009 04:45 PM

Despite his poor ranking of my squad I think we have to trust Bucc on this, he may be the only one of us who was alive to actually see most of these people in action.

I didn't see a bad "nation" Coffee's stuck out because I thought Einstein and Shakespeare are arguably tops in their field and they are surrounded by other impressive names.

Very good job...very interesting to look through it all.
