Game Specials/Discounts
Since there are a number of gaming sites that have specials from time to time, I thought this could be a good place to show all the current specials.
So currently here is what I am seeing: Bioshock (PC): $9.99 at Direct2Drive Pirates (PC): $9.99 at Direct2Drive Europa Universalis Rome Gold (PC): $9.99 at Impulse Corporate Machine (PC): $0.99 at Impulse Freedom Force: Freedom Pack (PC): $6.74 at Steam Left 4 Dead: Game of the Year Edition (PC): $29.90 at GoGamer - 48 Hour Madness Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (PC): $2.90 at GoGamer - 48 Hour Madness Fallout 3 (PC): $32.90 at GoGamer - 48 Hour Madness |
It's nice to have a reasonable CAG dumping ground on this board, but I'm kindof slow about updating things

thanks for the thread ant! some good deals listed here.
I EU Rome Gold considered a fairly good representation of that series. I have never played it?
Gamestop appears to have a buy 2 get 1 free sale until tommorrow.
Quote:
No. In my opinion it's the worst game of the EU series or indeed, any of Paradox's games. |
Quote:
That's too bad. I figured it would be decent based on the GameRankings score. |
Quote:
Well, for $10, it may not be a bad bargain buy. I'm not sure what all patches/mod improvements have come out for it. I just remember being bitterly disappointed at how shallow and dull it seemed. |
Is Dark Messiah of Might and Magic any good? I've been thinking it would be cool to play on of those Might and Magic games.

Sword of the Stars with all expansions - $15 for today only - SoTS
Not a huge deal, but I picked up copies of City of Heroes: Good vs. Evil Edition at a couple of local GameStops for $9.99 each. Not bad considering it includes a month of game time ($14.99) and comes with a few in-game perks.
Thanks Antmeister, ordered mine. Just what I need in the middle of the summer is more video games to prevent me from golfing. I just picked up Sims 3, too. The wife is going to hate me soon enough....
I don't know if anyone has a Half Price Book retailer near them, but on father's day I picked up Europe Rome for $6 and Sid Meier's Trains for $4.

It's ok, but nothing special... The IGN review called it "decent" and that's about right. I'd get it for 3 bucks. I like to call it "kick simulator 2000" because you spend of alot of time kicking things in the game. |
For some reason walmart.com has the Wii version of Dawn of Discovery for $19.99 even though the game just came out today. I just ordered a copy, hopefully it goes through.
Space Rangers 2 Complete (PC): $19.99 at Impulse
Heroes of Might and Magic Hero Pack (PC): $19.96 on Steam Football Manager Live (PC): $21.99 on Steam |
YMMV, but I picked them up yesterday at my local Sam's Club store on clearance.......
EndWar (PS3) - $8 Facebreaker (PS3) - $5 |
CheapAssGamer.com is a good resource for deals.
Strategy Games
anything worth buying here? 50% off. also, I didn't realize that OOTP X/Baseball Mogul, was called Bill Spaceman Lee's OOTP X/Baseball Mogul. Odd. |
really? OOTP X for 50% off?
I'm gonna be pretty pissed if this is true.
that's bonkers. if that's true that probably takes me off the fence as far as OOTP X is concerned and i will pick it up later
But it's Bill Spaceman Lee's OOTP X, not the normal version.

Wow...good link sir. |

 |

I don't really know anything, just poking fun at the Bill Spaceman Lee thing. |
lol okay. i presume it refers to the interview with him that's bundled with it. but i wonder about patching for it and such...
For the Euro crowd, from the Play.com "Summer Melt Down":
UFC 2009: Undisputed (PS3) € 29.99. 360 price is the same. |
Quote:
Thanks, I know nothing about UFC but the demo was better than FNR4 so might pick this up. Saints row 2 is only £15 as well... |
I'm thinking the branding of "Bill Spaceman Lee" was a mistake for the OOTP and was only intended for the BM, but someone got a little copy/paste happy.

Yep, I was tempted too, and the fact that Friday I'll spend only € 8 for Fight Night 4 (traded in some stuff) could make feel less "guilty" to spend some money on this one. Fact is, MMA is not really my thing, and I wouldn't have the time to "get into it". As for Saints Row 2, if you liked GTA San Andreas just get it: it's a pretty fun game. |
Quote:
i think you're prolly right |
That was my thought too. I'm wondering if it extends to the fact its on sale or not as well.
Quote:
+1 Selling it for half off less than a month after release is a real kick in the nuts. |
Let's all remember that it's not OOTP that is selling it for that price, an online retailer is.
is the game worth it?
Is that the same retail version of the current OOTP that can be patched, have add ons, etc..? It if it is, I may pull the trigger on it.
Quote:
that was my thought. particularly if others here say that it is worth it |
Yeah, I was going to hold off for $40. I haven't played since OOTP version 6 and the interface/intuitiveness of Puresim has kept me from playing that, so if this is solid game then it would be worth the $20
Glad I asked
Got OOTPX on sale at Strategy First and patched it already. Been downloading some pictures/ballparks/databases for it. Be aware: the Bill "Spaceman" Lee OOTP X avi file is 2.7GB (it's still downloading for 4 hours now).
damn - that's nuts
I just purchased it and am beginning to download now as well, don't care about the spaceman video though.
yeah. i may pick it up tonight - just want a verdict from the rest of the guys on this board. although at that price, and given that my financial situation is actually pretty good, i should prolly just pick it up
I'm well on my way to getting my $30 worth out of it, $20 is a nice deal.
cool beans. thnx boyz
We all know you will end up getting it tonight, so you might as well go ahead :)
