Primal Scream
 

The mega summer music festival in Budapest (Sziget) starts next week. A quick scan of the headliners left me a bit limp, but then I looked through the bands who got smaller billing and buried in the third row of "lesser acts" (judging by the type-face) is Primal Scream. Wait... the Primal Scream? Weren't they a big deal? Is it just a husk of the former band? Their wiki page says they battled heroin addiction. Even so, they're a headline band in my 120-minutes memory. What am I missing? Is this just my age showing?

Now I see that Editors got similar treatment, with a 4:30 Saturday slot. That's before some band called Klaxons, followed by the vastly overrated Manic Street Preachers and Placebo. Crazy.

Are Mookie Brando and the Second Cousins playing?

There's a few Klaxons fans here on FOFC, me included. If you're going, you should check them out.

Time moves on, man. Primal Scream ceased to be a big deal long ago. Klaxons, OTH, are definitely a big draw these days.
