20Q: The FOFC Game

So, last night, I had some singer in my head and I could remember next to nothing about him. I knew I wanted to check him out while at my computer, but had never come across him while at my computer, only while away. And I would always forget when I was at my computer. So I was determined to end that frustrating situation last night and asked FOFC for help.

Well, after a while I finally got the singer I was thinking of (it was Edwin McCain). But why not make a game out of that sort of thing? It would be fun to play a 20 questions kind of thing.

So let's say someone picks a person, place, or thing (make it reasonably well-known, wikipedia-entry bare minimum). The category is made known to everyone, and then the 20 questions start. Anyone can post a yes/no question, and if someone guesses it before the limit of 20 is exhausted, then it is their turn. If not, then the original picker picks another?

What do you think, sound fun? Why the heck not, it could pass some time for those at work.

I'll start. Feel free to suggest rule amendments that might make more fun or interesting or whatever. It's just for kicks.

So the first category is PERSON.

Go!

Just making sure. :p

Was he a TV star?

Lorena 08-03-2009 04:29 PM

So this is what we know:

White Male
Dead
Non-athlete
Born in the US
Arguably an entertainer
Not a politician
Born before 1950
Did not die in July 2009 or in the 2000s

What exactly is meant by "star?"

MJ4H 08-03-2009 04:37 PM

Let's just do this:

#11: No, he is not famous for being a "TV star"

stevew 08-03-2009 04:54 PM

Was he born in a state traditionally known as in the North(as per Civil war split)

Well that's why I'm not saying it. :) I could be completely wrong.

DanGarion 08-03-2009 05:21 PM

Was this person known for more then one type of entertainment (ie. Musician, Singer, Actor, etc?)

MJ4H 08-03-2009 05:23 PM

#13: YES

DanGarion 08-03-2009 05:25 PM

Did this person have a nickname that referred to a physical trait (height, size, eyes, etc?)

Well my answer is dead in the water... :)

MJ4H 08-03-2009 05:30 PM

Yeah, I thought so. I went and double-checked for the real thing and can find no evidence of this nickname you are asking about, so if it exists, I wouldn't call it commonly known.

I say guesses should not count as a question, and should be sent by PM, so no one's incorrect guess affects later guesses. One guess per person.

MJ4H 08-03-2009 05:49 PM

I'm down with that. Guesses accepted via PM. Guess wrong and you are out!

Mustang 08-03-2009 07:24 PM

Has he ever had a movie based on his life?

MJ4H 08-03-2009 10:34 PM

#15: YES

SirFozzie 08-03-2009 10:56 PM

Did he star in a movie that would be considered a "Western" by the common definition.

#16: NO (to verify this, I searched on imdb.com and looked at the "genre" listing for all of the movies he was in as an actor and not had "Western" listed--I cannot testify that I know enough about every movie to say yes or no past that).

Mustang 08-03-2009 11:28 PM

Guess sent.
