PING: Celeval and MrIllini (Re: bizarre QB development even when playing)
I know that Nick had a QB who had some weird development, and that Kevin knows more about it than anyone else due to his examination of the back end. What do you make of THIS guy???
QB Bennie Rabe Player Details 34/34 and done...right??? Here's the kicker, though: he only has "E" (or 60 or 6 or pale green) development. He's been stuck on E for 2 or 3 seasons. He was ~33/57 and creeping a few years ago (will check exact details later this morning), but all of his green has disappeared. Sure, we've seen that happen plenty of times when guys to full experience, but I've never seen it with a guy who isn't full experience. I recall Nick talking about a guy who took a long time to develop, but if I remember correctly, he kept a whole bunch of green despite playing a ton. This guy has started for *five* straight seasons. Thoughts? |
Couldn't this be a guy who's heavily masked in scout error?
More info:
He was a combine skipper with a 79 position drill, 1% developed (!), 28 Solecismic Test. His sense rush blue-bar range per Extractor was 41/74. Here's his full CT history. The year 2 change *looks* like a VSOL to me.
Well he is masked for sure, to what extent who knows, but even with that, the numbers you are putting up with this guy are incredible.
Well, it's FOWL. Maybe half of his games recently have been against absolutely terrible AI teams. We need more humans in that league.
Definitely odd. It looks like a reasonably standard development through the first four seasons, and then it gets wacky:
Code:
Display ActualI would say season two saw a nice VSOL, and season three had a minor one as well. Development certainly seems to get stuck in the fifth season, but I can't for the life of me tell you why. Just looking at the numbers, I would guess that he had a huge jump in improvement during the season, but that doesn't fit given that he had already been a starter for some time... and the experience meter still shows what it does. |
I realize that this puts the masking in an entirely different direction than people are thinking, but watch the movement - the Year 2 move of +10 potential is certainly a VSOL; and all the other movement of potential with the exception of a +1 in Year 3 TC is downward.

Update...
He just finished another season with 23 starts (4 preseason, 16 regular season, 3 postseason) and is still in the exact same place in positional experience |
Another training camp is complete. Up to 35/35, but still no further gain in positional experience.
I'm pretty sure his problem is his 1 Intelligence. To be honest with you, I'm surprised he has 13 formations. You can't learn or gain experience if you don't have the Intelligence in real life. Could be something that Jim put in the game as well. I'm sure this is testable with other dumb players :)
And I'm pretty sure that's not it. Positional experience gains appear to have absolutely nothing to do with intelligence. Here's a guy in WOOF, for example, with *0* intelligence:
http://www.younglifenorthdekalb.com/...playerid=10697 He got to A/Red/100 Positional Experience by the end of his third season as a starter. (FYI, low-intelligence QBs are sometimes the best ones to have.) |
Quote:
I love it when people other than me draft low-intelligence QBs. :) |
*big fan of low int guys too
Another learning experience = a good day. Thanks guys!
For those not getting it, it's not just "low int", what they really mean is "low int combined with high solecismic". Solecismic score is an indicator of both intelligence and avoid interceptions, so if you have a high solecismic but a low intelligence, then the hidden avoid interceptions rating is likely pretty high.
The best case scenario = a red Solecismic score. If it's red, don't second guess yourself on intelligence or non-intelligence. Just take the dude and move on (if you need a QB).
So, this guy is up to 40/40 now, in year 13. His positional experience still hasn't changed a lick since when I posted this thread, despite starting every single preseason, regular season, and postseason game since then.
Was it only the last season that was run with the newest patch?
No, 2041-2045 have been 6.3/6.3a. (I think 2041 was 6.3, and the rest 6.3a.)
Ah...guess I should've looked at the TD totals and figured that out for myself!!
Crazy that this guy is still as good as he is and has been so for so long. Nice find. |
Wow, those are some insane TD numbers. FOF players blow my mind.
