Is the song Amanda by Boston about rape?
I heard this on the radio on my way to work and for the first time listened to the lyrics. It sounds like it's a serenade of a rapist.
|
And here I just thought it was a love song. Foolish me.
|
Pretty sure it is what Kodos said....

I'm thinking sodomy too. |
I think their "I Think I Like It" song later on the same album only reaffirms their pro-rape message.
|
YOU ONLY THINK IT'S ABOUT RAPE BECAUSE YOU WANT BOSTON TO RAPE YOU
|
I always thought it was, "I'm gonna take you by the thighs and make you realize Amanda!"
|
I thought it was common knowledge that Boston was one of the first and most influential 'arena rape' bands.

It's an audible Rorschach test.
Rapist. |
Hurry, someone come into this thread and call everyone insensitive bastards!!
|
Didn't the lead singer write the song about a lost love and just kill himself recently? Not sure if the two are related, but kind of creepy. Of course I could be completely wrong on the Amanda meaning part. (Though it would be interesting if he had any problems involving rape in his past)
|
If one Boston song sounds like it's about rape, then all of them are.
|
Well, I know Don't Look Back was always a cautionary tale for the girls in my class.
|
Maybe the whole city of Boston has a rape fetish. Heck we all know they like to cheap and tape people
|
Boston was one guy IIRC. My guess is that Amanda was more specifically about raping a black woman. Because we all know Boston is racist.

That reminds me of something one of my high school coaches told me. He'd been out extensively the weekend before, and gotten lucky each night. He said the one thing the three women had in common is that they all wanted him to f#&% them in the ear. After a pause he said. "It started on Friday. I kept trying to put it in her mouth, and she kept turning her head." |
Let's move to the next "Is it about rape?": Possum Kingdom by The Toadies

Yeah. The toadies were all about stealing the booty
And besides the rape vibe, it also has the underage girl vibe too. |

Possum Kingdom is where our family has a Lake House near Hells Gate. Just a side note. Nothing about rape. ![]() |
I'm not getting a rape vibe, and believe me... I know rape when I hear it.
However, if you want the best love song that is actually a sick and twisted stalker lament, there is only one! Quote:

This one was kind of fishy. Especially when the sung lyric sounds more like "looking in your big brown eye". I have to think it's about forceable anal sodomy.

Hedley Lamarr: Qualifications?
Applicant: Rape, murder, arson, and rape. Hedley Lamarr: You said rape twice. Applicant: I like rape. |
THIS is a rape song:
Take her arms and hold her down... Until she stops kicking Take her arms and hold her down... Until she she stops moving And they don't know her But what the fuck They've got nothing else they can do And they've no reason But still they come And I Would have a hard time facing you This crime The shame of what a man can do Take her arms and hold her down... Until she stops screaming Take her arms and hold her down... Until she stops breathing And they don't know her But what the fuck They've got nothing else they can do And they've no reason But still they come And I Would have a hard time facing you This crime The shame of what a man can do Take the night back All they've stolen All we took from you |
