FB to RB? Advice needed

I came across a draft with a not so great class at RB after the first couple were taken, and when my pick came up, there were no RB's with taking...so I instead saw a fantastic fullback who has RB speed(Or at least pretty good RB speed).

I took him(obviously)...and I was wondering how much of a drop off I could expect if I switched him over to RB at the beginning of his career? WHen I go to switch him, the game says he will retain 66% of his ratings after the move, and this is what it came out to.

Would it be 'safer' to just keep him at FB, and make him a part of the offense this way?(I did a few tests after drafting him. In some SP games, I was able to make a good running fullback and good runner with some pretty good sucess. Have gotten him 1,000 yards each time I've tried the offense. About 3.7 ypc which isn't exactly world beating either.)...

Or should I take the plunge and move him over to RB?

I came across a similar situation when I picked up a Center in FA in a different MP league. He was 79/79 at C, but I wanted to move him to guard, and the game said he'd retain 71% of his ratings, but after the move it showed 83/83. The next stage he went down to 75/75, and at the beginning of the season he has capped(what I think), at 81/81. I'm trying to figure out if this would be well worth the attempt.

I'm not 'close' to winning a title by any means, so I have room for this to be a 'miss' so to speak. Just wanted to get the opinions of you all, and if anyone has ever tried this.

The FB's combine numbers are wonderful. That 4.52, was 3rd among running backs(If he were in that group)

Thanks ahead of time, for your help :)

I've had mixed results with RB moves from FB, but this guy I would move for sure. His talent would be wasted at FB, IMO.

it's mostly about weight. If you're going to convert him try to have him lose weight first

If this is in an MP game, the reduction given in the pop-up box only applies after the next turn is processed - in other words, he's probably going to lose a third of the apparent 53/80 post-switch ratings (although this is not exact...)

I faced a similar dilemma. Drafted a FB, has the size/speed to be a HB, but it was too drastic a drop IMO. So, bump up the FB run to the max, and/or slot him in RB1 in the formations screen. I don't think I'd take the ratings hit myself.

Thank you all for the information, I have a few days before I actually have to make the decision, so please keep the advice coming.

Center to Guard rarely works, too, and you pulled it off, so if you're feeling lucky...

I drafted basically the same fullback in my SP career a few moments ago--at 1.19, too. ;) My guy is 54/87, but a little lighter (241). He converts to a 45/70 RB. (He also had crazy FB combines, so I'm thinking that would hold if I kept him at RB.)

So your advice was to go ahead and move em? ;) lol
