NFL Playoff Round II Thread

Let's go Cards! I'm not sure if my heart can take another crazy game like last weeks though. :D

Abe Sargent 01-16-2010 03:36 PM

Well, Cards arent going to gt shut out

Thomkal 01-16-2010 03:36 PM

Holy Crap I didn't expect that. Another great start for the Cards in a playoff game.

ColtCrazy 01-16-2010 03:38 PM

Leaving for the Colts game soon. They should win, but the Ravens are always a tough out. I'm hoping I come home at 1 am happy.

bhlloy 01-16-2010 03:45 PM

So, new playoff scoring record in this game? :D

MJ4H 01-16-2010 03:46 PM

Serious question, here. On that catch by Shockey, he got hit and went down, but he was never touched while down. Is he down by NFL rule? God, I hate that rule. Can someone clarify why he was down on that play, or if he was? (2 plays before the touchdown)

That's a tackle - he caught the ball, and the defender knocked him down.

Senator 01-16-2010 03:49 PM

My speakers are picking up the ambient stadium announcer from the Saints. That has to be the most annoying and repetitive person I have ever heard. Has anyone gone to a Saints game before? Is this a normal thing? Usually, I don't even notice, but he sounds like a he is trying to be a Michael Buffer starter kit with all the words going outtttttttt likeeeeeeeee thissssss.

I didn't see the play, but if the force of the contact makes him go down, then he is down.

So he doesn't have to be touched while his knee is down? What exactly is the rule?

tucker rocky 01-16-2010 03:53 PM

How do 3 personal fouls offset?
Arz had 2, NO 1

Thomkal 01-16-2010 03:54 PM

well that wasn't a pleasant turn of events.

Tigercat 01-16-2010 03:56 PM

So if 11 players on one team beat the living crap out of 1 player for the other team, and that 1 player fights back, it is off setting personal foul penalties? Weird.

Nevermind.

Looked it up, and found my answer.

Tigercat 01-16-2010 03:58 PM

Brees has all day back there right now.

Tigercat 01-16-2010 03:59 PM

Dola, this game is on pace for 150+ points.

RedKingGold 01-16-2010 04:07 PM

I just saw a punt. I feel cheated.

The rule is simple. If a defender forces the ball carrier to hit the ground, the ball carrier is down.

MJ4H 01-16-2010 04:12 PM

Fair enough. This is my first year of really watching the NFL semi-seriously.

Abe Sargent 01-16-2010 04:13 PM

Wow, hello Saints

RedKingGold 01-16-2010 04:13 PM

This is the best Reggie Bush has played as a pro. EF27 must be basking in it right now.

That was Barry Sanders-esque.

MrDNA 01-16-2010 04:14 PM

WOW. Some amazing plays so far in this thing. I hope the Cards score next to keep it competitive; no snoozers in this round, please!!

Thomkal 01-16-2010 04:14 PM

:::sighs::: horrible tackling again and their best CB out in an already shaky secondary. Not looking good for my Cards.

Tigercat 01-16-2010 04:15 PM

Bush has been awesome for weeks, it just kind of got lost since it was mostly during the losing streak.

tucker rocky 01-16-2010 04:15 PM

Arizona has decided to go with the same defensive gameplan against GB.

Thomkal 01-16-2010 04:27 PM

wow they dodged a bullet there

Masked 01-16-2010 04:28 PM

Wow, what a weak roughing the passer call.

tucker rocky 01-16-2010 04:29 PM

Arz going with the quick hits.

tucker rocky 01-16-2010 04:32 PM

Gregg Williams defense looking good.

Tigercat 01-16-2010 04:32 PM

Regardless of how weak that roughing the passer call might have been, I absolutely HATE how roughing the passer calls wipe out INTs. The pass is in the air, the action of the pass is in motion, the the result of that action can be wiped out by something that happens after the pass starts is odd to me.

It was very close from getting 4 straight stops, 2 of which by turnover. You can't give Warner a second chance at a drive in the playoffs.

Possession hasn't changed yet though.

Yes but the action is away from the possession change, and doesn't affect possession change. I understand why it is enforced like that, I just think it hinders the flow of the game more than it helps.

A QB can air mail it to a safety 50 yards down field, and be completely bailed out by something that happens after that mistake.

Thomkal 01-16-2010 04:39 PM

ugh Cards lose a second secondary guy

Who is the second? I missed the name.

bhlloy 01-16-2010 04:42 PM

I love this Saints team. I'm still not convinced they can beat a team with a real defense, but they are so much fun to watch.

I can't root for them against the Chargers but if they get to the Super Bowl and play anybody else it will be the most invested I've been in the game for a very long time.

k0ruptr 01-16-2010 04:43 PM

nice flea flicker.

6 tds in 22 minutes.

kingfc22 01-16-2010 04:44 PM

I love arena football.

Hammer755 01-16-2010 04:45 PM

I've not seen it mentioned, so I guess it's my local feed, but the quality of the picture on this game is terrible. It's not the TV because the commercials look fine.

FOX's feed is always worse than what a typical game on CBS or NBC will look like IMO.

Thomkal 01-16-2010 04:48 PM

sigh

kingfc22 01-16-2010 04:48 PM

Warner got blew up. Damn.

Antrel Rolle, head injury

Tigercat 01-16-2010 04:48 PM

Shit, I hate to see that hit on Warner. That fucking sucks.

Thomkal 01-16-2010 04:49 PM

oh god now Warner is hurt, this is turning very ugly

sabotai 01-16-2010 04:49 PM

Warner tried to play defense and got destroyed.

RedKingGold 01-16-2010 04:49 PM

I think that may have been Kurt Warner's last play in the NFL.

k0ruptr 01-16-2010 04:49 PM

if Warner is out I'd say good nite Cards. Leinart isn't even half the QB that he is.

Well, if the Cards defense continues to give up TD's on 100% of the oppositions possessions it won't matter who is at QB.
