So, once you have won a handful of games in the NHL regular season... what exactly are you playing for? If there are no byes, and there's no real home-ice advantage (pretty clearly true), then who gives a shit whether you win 70% or 50% of your games?

I guess that's why there's a thread here calling this "the most wonderful time of the year..." - after months and months of meaningless hockey, now they actually start playing for something.

How fitting that 7 underdogs win.. everyone except who? Oh yeah the Bruins... sigh.

I agree that most everybody making the playoffs makes the regular season almost worthless in Hockey and, to a slightly lesser extent, the NBA.

But, that being said, them damned Rangers still haven't made the playoffs for six years. I'm starting to hate the management at the Garden.:(
