Then how can he get kick backs from his mob buddies that run the State Stores?

I have a bit of professional experience with this notion of "expand the sales tax base." The offset of a lower tax rate is an intriguing wrinkle.

The idea usually is at its absolute zenith of potential appeal when it's being discussed in pithy one-sentence items like those in this news item. But once the various services and groups who would newly be subjected to the 4% tax get a hold of the idea, there is usually a run on torches and pitchforks.

I predict this does not go well.

Should be an interesting Thanksgiving conversation if my cousin votes yes to new taxes.

Sounds like there are too many exemptions to begin with.

Pennsylvania could probably have a budget surplus if it totally dumped their horrendous DOT and privatized it.

But then who would hold the signs to tell me to go slow through a construction zone? But that might mean that people would actually be working in those zones....hmmm...

Since torches and pitchforks are already not tax exempt, this may work in his favor.

It was never the guy who holds the sign that bothered me -- it was more the four other guys hanging around the truck drinking coffee while another two sat in the truck on the phone or eating a sandwich.

It's a good thing he's always freed up from that analyst job by mid January to start to concentrate on the budget, huh? :p
