habanero CHEE-TOS

I love you!

terpkristin 02-27-2010 11:13 AM

Are they new? I've never heard of them.

TGIF used to make some potato skins (snack chips in the grocery store) that were also habanero but they were quickly discontinued. So delicious.

I tried one of the other flavors and they were terrible, but the heat on the habs was perfect, couldnt stop eating them.

My advice = enjoy them cheetos while you can because it might not be for very long.

Yes.. grabbed a bag at Quick Trip yesterday and can't find them close to home, so I'm going to make a run today and clean them out!

JeeberD 02-27-2010 12:43 PM

I read the thread title as Habanero Cheerios, and as much as I love spicy food, I was disgusted...

I have a feeling that most ppl that read cheetos as cheerios are breeders who have had little F-trophies running around the house recently.

RainMaker 02-27-2010 07:50 PM

Let me know when they are as good as these.

Sadly, the local grocery store did not have them. SO I got the flaming hot limon flavor. So yummy.

CrimsonFox 02-28-2010 05:06 AM

Habanero Doritos were out for a long time but discontinued a couple of years ago. They were, without a doubt, my favorite chip. I think we had a Doritos thread where we discussed this one and some others. My feelings of anger and disappointment over them pulling this flavor were profound.

HOWEVER, apparently they released them as a limited time thing just before the Super Bowl. I didn't know about it until a week or so ago when I saw the little bags in a convenience store. I bought all they had (9 bags). :D

Izulde 02-28-2010 01:26 PM

This thread is making me hungry for Doritos and Cheetos. Especially Spicy Taco Doritos.

MrDNA 02-28-2010 03:07 PM

I don't like really any snack food, but living in Mexico made me fall in love with spicy Cheetos. I'm heading to the grocery store today and if I see this MFers they're getting eaten.

Found them at Ralphs today for $2 I think. My gf loves them

MizzouRah 03-01-2010 11:05 PM

I'm going to pack some for Florida. :)

Abe Sargent 03-01-2010 11:48 PM

They are in the vending machine in the hallway across from my doorway, about two yards away.

Abe Sargent 03-01-2010 11:52 PM

They do have a nice kick to em, but I still prefer good ol generic cheesy ones. They still have a bit of a cheese flavor, but not as much with the focus definately on the hot side.

MizzouRah 03-02-2010 06:01 PM

Boooooo Abe!

Bad-example 03-02-2010 07:41 PM

The Habanero Cheetos are undoubtedly too hot for me.

Jalapeno Cheetos, however, are pure perfection.

Because I just prefer the cheesy ones or because I have my own stash right across the hallway from my apartment door?

Both! :D

Passacaglia 03-03-2010 08:37 AM

They have Strawberry Cheetos in Japan? That sounds awesome!

Passacaglia 03-03-2010 11:13 AM

So are these the same as Cheddar Jalapeno Cheetos? I was walking past the vending machine in my office just now, and someone was loading it, which reminded me to look for Habanero Cheetos. The guy asked what I was looking for, and I told him. He said he had them -- then he said they were jalapeno. And he gave me a bag, and said don't worry about it. So that was cool!

Passacaglia 03-03-2010 11:23 AM

Oh neverm ind -- post 18 tells me they are different. Hmm. Are jalapeno and habanero that different that they need separate flavors of Cheetos for them?

terpkristin 03-03-2010 05:36 PM

Darn, I went out to try to find them and only found the jalapeno. Obviously, I must try different grocery stores this weekend.

Pass....habaneros are much spicier, so in theory, yes, some people want it hot....er, hotter. ;)

yes. Jalapeno tastes like jalapeno. Habanero tastes like habanero. Hope that helps :D

CrimsonFox 03-04-2010 02:39 AM

My Cheeto quest has failed. Went two 2 more grocery stores and 4 convenient stores and found no habenero cheetos at all :(

I found minibags of Habanero DOritos in a 7-11 though. Gobbled up 3 of em
mmmmmmmmmmmm

Dodgerchick 03-08-2010 01:29 AM

Goddamn, these are spicy. I think the roof of my mouth is numb.

Dodgerchick 03-08-2010 01:41 AM

Probably not a good idea to munch on these at 1:40am now I'm wide awake.

MizzouRah 03-08-2010 07:35 AM

:) Dodgerchick

terpkristin 03-08-2010 07:55 AM

I went to every major grocery store in my area to find them, to no avail (Wegmans, Harris Teeter, Giant, Safeway, Bloom). Didn't go to Super Wal-Mart or Super Target, but I think they haven't been rolled out this way yet...

Dodgerchick 03-08-2010 04:14 PM

PAWS OFF MY HABANERO CHEETOS!!!11!

MizzouRah 03-08-2010 05:13 PM

I can't find them in Florida.. but I'm still looking!

Way to go Dodgerchick!

CrimsonFox 03-09-2010 05:50 AM

Okay I finally found small bags in a 7-11. Good stuff. Not as hot as the Habenero doritos tho.

For those not finding them in grocery stores, try 7-11s and you'll probably only find the small 99 cent bags, not big bags like i did

Izulde 03-09-2010 12:15 PM

I went looking for these the other day but couldn't find them. Got a small bag of regular Chee-tos instead.
