PING: Nationals fans

I'm going to be in D.C. for a quick vacation after my convention ends in Boston. Planning on going to a Nationals/Cubs game while I'm there. Is there a spot in the stadium I should avoid sitting at or are most all of the seats pretty good?

Looking to order my tickets on Stub Hub now before it's announced Strasburg will be pitching and I have to fork out a ridiculous dollar amount.

Thanks for any help you can give.

LOL - since when are you going to be in Boston Troy?

Any spot in the stadium is fine - I prefer the outfield. Sit in left field if it's a good day, sit under the mezzanine in right field if it's either rainy or too hot. You really can't go wrong.

If you have young kids and it is a sunny, hot day, I'd recommend sitting in the shadier areas, many of which are on the third base side or, as Toddzilla points out, under the RF mezz. I took my 4 y.o. daughter to the game on Sunday and the seats, most of which are dark blue, were too hot to touch. She was completely miserable by the bottom of the 3rd, so we moved to a shadier spot.

Moving seats shouldn't be a problem -- especially if it is not a Strasburg game.

Anyone reading some all of my posts knows it's crazy travel time for me right now. I'll be sleeping in my own bed 5 nights between August 1 to August 25.

I'll be in Spokane, Yakima, Tri-Cities Washington the week of 8/1. The following week I'll be on the Seattle side. (all the way up to Bellingham) The next week I'll be in Boston for convention. (Tuesday through Friday night late. They haven't given us our schedules yet, usually we get one night free. I'm hoping it's Thursday, but I'm thinking it'll be Tuesday)

After that, I'm taking a personal vacation to D.C. Going to fly my wife to D.C. and meet her there Saturday morning from Boston.

After that, I get to be home for three weeks. Then it's Vegas for a week, Salt Lake City for a week, Southern Oregon for a week. Three weeks off and then it's Arkansas for a week.

I think by that time I'll be comatose and nobody will have to worry about me again.

All of the seats are good. As for the sun, it looks like the Cubs games are all night games in late August. The sun should pretty much be behind the stadium for most of the game at that point. I will be in seats behind home plate (Diamond Club) on the Tuesday (8/24) game, FWIW.

Judging from what I've seen on TV, you shouldn't have any problems sitting wherever you want.

Unless SS is pitching. Then the seats cost a crapload of money. The reason I'm buying my tickets now instead of walking up to the gate. If both Monday and Tuesday are free, I'll probably just go to the gate and buy tickets the night he's not pitching. (I really, really would love to see him pitch, but not at a ridiculous price)

The rest of Mon-Wed is going to be spent going through the Smithsonian's. Really, really looking forward to seeing them.

You don't plan to see all of the Smithsonian museums, do you? :)

No, I don't have six months to take off of work to see them all. :)

So you'll be in Vegas in August? You'll have to hit me up then.

TroyF 07-13-2010 12:47 PM

Will do. I've met up with Chief Rum, would love to meet up with others on my travels.

No longer the case. The first two starts were insane but now tickets are going for face value and lower. The 7/27 and 8/1 starts are selling at the same price as other games.

good to know.

I think I'll just hold off on the tickets until I get there.

Any scalping laws I need to be aware of?

I'm not sure what they are, but I know that guys sell tickets within view of cops and I've never seen the cops do anything.

I would also check stubhub day of -- you may get as good a deal without the hassle.
