Would you pay $20 for a 9 year old PC game?

I remember seeing Final Fantasy 7 for the PS1 on ebay for almost $50 a year or so ago, shortly before it was sold as a classic on the Playstation Network.

PC game no, but for instance if I found FF3 on the SNES for $20 somewhere, I'd jump on it right away.

If I could find Secret of Mana for 20 bucks, I'd buy it.

I paid 20 dollars with shipping for the original colonization about 4 years ago

I didn't notice it was PC game until I had already voted yes.

First thing that popped into my head was Ogre Battle on SNES. I loved that game.

I've bought Super Tecmo Bowl for the DS And Xbox360, so I guess I have to say yes...

No, since I could probably find a copy to download off bit-torrent or something instead of paying for it...

A dig at TCY I'm guessing. Would you pay 20 bucks for a 9-year old movie?

I've gotten NES and SNES games but wouldn't drop the loot for a PC game.

I would if it were good enough, but I wouldn't pay 20 bucks for a 9 year old console game. *shrug*

That is way agressive. Items that were $60-$70 didn't sell. I image $40 is probably closer to the mark. Just because someone lists something for a price, doesn't mean it historically sells for that price.

There is a huge difference in 'would you buy' compared to 'would someone buy'. There are tons of games that I wouldn't personally buy for the price I sell them at, but I will gladly sell them at that price.

I laugh at people that won't sell something because they wouldn't buy it. Who the hell cares what you would do, if there is a market out there, then there is a market out there. What you are willing to spend is irrelevant. (Although, the reverse is also true.. just because you think an items is worthwhile and you are willing to spend X doesn't mean someone else will)

Items that people might have laying around that are decent is the 93' Doom (last one sold at $300), Ultima 7 or 9 (around $70) and Quest for Glory I

I just picked up the Starcraft battlechest (again) a week ago or so for $20. So yep.

In case anyone is curious, the most expensive pc game in the last 90 days that has sold on Ebay that I see is an original unopened WoW Collector's Edition set that sold for $2,949

I don't go looking to find old stuff free because downloading torrent stuff scares me. I don't even know where I'd look, or what program people use for it.

It would be cool to find Diablo 2 for free though, but I doubt I could find it.

About 4-5 years ago I would have paid $20 for a Windows version of the original Colonization, but I found it for free.

I did a couple of weeks or so ago to play around with 6.3 TCY importing. 20 bucks isn't worth the amount of my time it would have taken to find the Order ID and/or write E-license and wait for a response.

Depends on the game and what I'm getting with it. Some games, the manual that comes with them would be worth paying $20 for a hard copy over buying the game for, like...$5 on Steam.

I probably do, too. 20 bucks isn't worth the time spent finding it either. It is probably in my garage in a box with a bunch of other old games.

Yeah, I happen to know where mine is - one of a very small number of games I kept that I had on disc.

I spent way more than I care to admit on Earthbound a few years back for the SNES...but the game is a god damn classic. You'd do it too!

this is a man who will scour the deepest crevices of code to figure out how a game works but can't be bothered to look for said game in his garage.

I paid $50 for Sid Meiers Pirates!Gold! a few years ago. Then I had to find an old sega, which I bought for about $10.
The Pirates game was only $50 because it didnt have the map. If it had the map it was $100.

I voted yes because I have done several times - for games which have special meaning or remembrances to me, they tend to either be games I've worked upon and haven't got a copy of for some reason or strategy games which stand the test of time (Master of Magic for instance).

If I could pay JG $20 (or $50 or $100) for the info I glean in testing, I'd certainly do that before any testing. It's all about the opportunity cost.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to rebuy the Starcraft battlechest (for like the third time) when I finish playing through Starcraft 2.

MVP 2005 for PC always brings a decent price.

SMAC is older than that, right? I would for that, probably (and even may have...hrm, I should find that disk).

There are plenty of 20+ year old games I played as a kid that, if they were available and working today, I'd pay way more than $20 for.
