94 Year-old OC!

In looking for a new coach I found something strange. The Offensive Coordinator for Houston is 94 years old, with only two years of experience!

This means that Houston hired a 92 year old first-time coordinator!

A little research found that he had a two-year career as a backup RB, then showed up nearly 70 seasons later!

I wonder what he was doing for those 70 years... :D

With all the companies and pension funds that went bankrupt over the past few years he probably was forced out of retirement.

maybe joe pa changed his name and snuck in? LOL

Maybe this was on this guy's bucket list?

This is the story I came up with for my own amusement:

One-time NFL RB Alan Flynn decided that simply retiring and fading away was not something he wanted. After a couple years helping coach at his great-grandson's school, a local collage noticed the success the team had recently had running the ball and offered him a position, figuring he could help on a part-time basis. He dove in head first and never looked back, attacking the job with the energy a man 50 years his junior would envy. While practically everyone doubted him, Flynn just kept on coaching up RB's! He made a great story and when a pro team called, he was back in the NFL after nearly 7 decades

In 2084, 90 is the new 70! :D

That is pretty unreal - and really cool, lol

Something else about him I just noticed.

He played for two years then signed with Dallas & was cut. He has eight years of experience though. That means he was an unsigned free agent for five years before finally calling it a career.

This is the middle part of my version of the story:

...and after 70 years of making the rounds in the NFL, the CV finally found its man when Matt Millen got another shot as GM of a professional football team...

This is the ultimate story of perseverance.

I think they should make a movie about this guy.

That's up there with my 40-year-old LT who held out for 17 years, then played one season and retired.

Not too far off from Sherm Lewis going from retired Bingo-caller to the Redskins' OC during the Zorn regime.

Working on a really, really great playbook.

Is his preferred formation the Single Wing?

PR stunt!

Sadly, Flynn decided to retire following the season.

I wish him well in his next career!

By retire you mean kick the bucket?
