computer hardware question
 
hi yall, i got a question about RAM, this is civ 5 related :)

how do i find out what kind of ram i can use on my computer, i know theres a lot of differnet types and they only fit certain hardware. but im not computer savy enough to find out what kind i already have

i have a amd athlon 64x2 duel core processor 4200 but for the life of me i cant find out the motherboard

I'm not sure if this is what you're after but you could try PC Wizard at CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

It should give a lot of information about your computer and its components.

I use http://www.crucial.com

There is a Memory Advisor Tool

Will tell you
  • How much RAM you have installed
  • What kind of RAM you have installed
  • Maximum amount of RAM you can install

I also use crucial to identify and buy from newegg.com.

Crucial is good, but not without flaws. They've been wrong about my setup before.

Man, i've only got 512MB installed when I could have 4 gigs. Looks like I have some upgrading to do.
