Pacquiao-Margarito, November 13, 2010

Can't wait!

This could be The Destroyer's toughest challenge yet.

4 1/2" height advantage for Margarito, including a 6" reach advantage.

Of course, it's Pacquiao we're talking about here... but how much of a disadvantage (height and reach-wise) is going to enough to neutralize his speed and strength?

Cotto and Clottey were bigger guys and it was immediately obvious that they could pack a mean punch. Heck, Clottey basically turtled for 12 rounds, and he still managed to considerably batter Pacquiao's face.

I am hopeful of this fight being a slugfest, similar to the Cotto fight. No backing down, and may the best man win.

Or the one with the most loaded gloves.

Ronnie Dobbs2 10-20-2010 09:15 AM

dola

It is amazing to me how Margarito's career wasn't instantly over the moment that happened. Boxing, huh.

I'll find out next weekend if I have tickets to this fight. I really hope to be able to go.

That sound awesome. :) I'd kill to see a Pacquiao fight live.

sabotai 10-20-2010 01:42 PM

The only way Margarito wins is if Pacquiao loses his mind and gets careless and reckless. Otherwise, it shouldn't last all that long. I'd guess either a KO or stoppage in the mid to later-mid rounds. Doubt it goes beyond round 9.

Neon_Chaos 10-26-2010 02:25 AM

I'm glad Manny's finally in the States right now.

He's had too many distractions here in the Philippines... and I think the past month has been detrimental to his training. All the media coverage and the ridiculous 6-hour drives from Baguio to Manila and back again have no doubt taken its toll on Pacquiao's camp.

Two weeks of Roach training in the Wild Card gym is what he needs to focus on the fight.

Neon_Chaos 11-08-2010 06:59 AM

Less than a week to go.

Watching the 24/7 series on the fight, I'm a bit concerned that Manny isn't as focused as we're used to seeing him be.

I've already bought tickets the local cinema to view the PPV fight with friends and family. :D

It should make for a ridiculously depressing day if he loses.

kingfc22 11-13-2010 11:32 PM

This has been one action packed fight.

cartman 11-13-2010 11:35 PM

If Pac-Man can hold out, he should get a decision.

cartman 11-13-2010 11:36 PM

Dola,

I didn't make it up for the fight. Following on an online stream.

Yep. I am as well. Clearly Pac-Man's fight to lose now.

cartman 11-13-2010 11:45 PM

And it goes to the judges. Pacquiao should win easily.

cartman 11-13-2010 11:52 PM

Ayup. Judges score it 120-108, 118-110, 119-109 for Pac-Man.

sabotai 11-14-2010 12:52 AM

Didn't watch it (totally forgot about it, was busy with other things), but judging from the descriptions of the fight I've just read, didn't seem like I was too far off what I thought was going to happen. From the sound of it, the fight should have been stopped.

Neon_Chaos 11-14-2010 01:11 AM

Pacquiao just obliterated Margarito, nearly shutting both eyes by the ninth round. Should have been stopped in round 10. Pacquiao showed some class and let up in the 12th and allowed Margarito to finish the fight on his feet.

He has now held a title in 8 weight divisions. Simply amazing.

Mayweather is the only fight left for Pacquiao, and it looks like it'll never happen.

I haven't followed boxing for years and now I am missing out on a legendary fighter. Unbelievable.

MikeVic 11-14-2010 02:20 AM

I thought the controversy with the coffee and stuff was so stupid, but the actual fight was good. Crazy to be able to hang and easily beat a guy that much bigger than him.

Margarito's eyes at the end:

You and a lot of other people, boxing has pretty much moved on.

Neon_Chaos 11-15-2010 07:05 AM

Margarito has a fractured eye socket, and will need surgery. They're wating for the swelling to disappear before doing anything though.
