How is there not a thread? Go Seahawks!!!!

spleen1015 01-08-2011 03:33 PM

Rootin for the Seahawks, too!

RendeR 01-08-2011 03:35 PM

I refuse to root for a playoff team with a losing record.

kingfc22 01-08-2011 03:36 PM

And the 7-9 team starts off with a bang. LOL

You would if it means your team would then play them at home in the next round. :)

frnk55 01-08-2011 03:38 PM

I kinda hope Seattle wins. It would be funny. ;)

GrantDawg 01-08-2011 03:41 PM

Way to drop that ball, Bush. You over-rated piece of crap.

Alan T 01-08-2011 03:45 PM

I agree, go Seattle! :)

JPhillips 01-08-2011 03:53 PM

Is it too early to say the game's decided?

frnk55 01-08-2011 03:53 PM

Yawn..Maybe it's time for a movie.

Yep. Saints have blown lots of big early leads to bad teams this year.

kingfc22 01-08-2011 04:28 PM

Is anybody going to play defense?

whomario 01-08-2011 04:29 PM

really impressive couple of plays by Hasselbeck, especially considering how horrible it started for him and all the discussion about him ahead of the game.

cuervo72 01-08-2011 04:30 PM

Dear Mr. Hammond,

STOP JIZZING EVERY TIME A FORMER NOTRE DAME PLAYER TOUCHES THE BALL.

k, Thx

bhlloy 01-08-2011 04:30 PM

I think I am a better NFL safety than Roman Harper. He's been at fault for at least 75% of the Seahawks succesful offensive plays so far.

Definitely the two worst defenses in an NFL playoff game I can remember so far. Gonna be who can score last or who can avoid a couple of turnovers.

cuervo72 01-08-2011 04:33 PM

You too, Mayock. I don't give a crap about this "Golden Domer" bs.

Yea, this crew sucks. Nobody is watching because of Notre Dame. Last time I checked their season was over.

Travis 01-08-2011 04:56 PM

Funny how much quieter it gets around here when the score became competitive and how much busier it'll probably get if the Saints pull ahead in the second half.

But while the game is tight and good plays being made, crickets. Do that many enjoy ripping games/players that much more than enjoying what, to this point, has been a pretty well played game? Or is there just that few watching the game?

SackAttack 01-08-2011 04:58 PM

I'm surprised no flag on that shot to Hasselbeck after the TD.

whomario 01-08-2011 04:59 PM

this is a fun game to watch :) by now i really want Seattle to advance, too.

I'm watching the game, but don't have much to say. I'm hoping Seattle wins and eliminates the Saints, so happy that right now they are winning. I'm not a Seattle fan or anything though, so it honestly doesn't matter too much to me if one wins or the other though.

You know it's possible to have a computer and a TV in the same room right?

It hasn't been a well played game, at least defensively. There were just four Saints players covering a 30 yard patch of grass while Stokely ran right past them, including the aforementioned Harper who is just having a nightmare. I'm sorry a discussion on a messageboard has offended your delicate sensibilities so much though

Saturday afternoon is a weird time for the NFL and it's the poorest game of the 4 (at least perception wise). I wouldn't mind seeing Seattle win since there is a chance they'd get to play the Bears next week.

Not offended, just a commentary. Read the start of this thread and you can look at the time stamps. Prior to the game there was a lot of commentary (radio, online, other threads here) how bad Seattle would get thumped. Game starts, the Saints take the lead, Hasselbeck throws the interception, Seattle goes down by 10 a second time and there's chatter.

Seattle comes back, ties up and takes the lead and the thread is pretty much dead.

I just find it interesting that there's more commentary when the early indications show that this might be a thumping, but once it turns into a pretty competitive back and forth game (which one would think would be a better game to watch even if a bit sloppy as you suggest), that's when it got a lot quieter here, hence my observation/comment.

That'd be an interesting lead in given that the Seahawks were able to win already in Chicago this year already. My gf asked me today what the Seahawks chances were today (she's not into football really) and I told her that on their best day they can play with nearly any team in the league but that it'd surprise me if they had the consistency to be able to do so long enough to get deep into the playoffs. That said, if they can get through today, gain some confidence and go into a place they've already won without getting over confident, it'd make for a heck of a game.

I hope ;)

Lathum 01-08-2011 05:12 PM

Seattle still sucks

SnowMan 01-08-2011 05:14 PM

Loving the big middle finger the Hawks are giving the league right now.

stevew 01-08-2011 05:15 PM

it is XL-lent to see the Seachickens in the playoffs again.

bhlloy 01-08-2011 05:15 PM

OK, point taken. FWIW I don't think there was ever a chance the Seahawks were going to get thumped. New Orleans just isn't close to the same team they were last year and at Qwest anything can happen. But even I'm surprised at just how bad the Saints look defensively. Losing Malcolm Jenkins hurts a lot, their safety play has been horrific but still. Where did all the blitzing and the aggressive front seven go?

This really just proves that on any given Sunday, shitty teams can win and it also proves that the point of the regular season is no longer meant to ensure that shitty teams don't get a chance to prove that fact.

SnowMan 01-08-2011 05:19 PM

Also reinforces that you shouldn't overlook anyone, and the "good" teams should get work done to make sure those "shitty" teams don't sucker punch them.

stevew 01-08-2011 05:19 PM

Cosign about shitty teams.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if part of it was the Saints not wanting to tip too much of their game plan going forward (maybe some over confidence in what it would take to beat the Seahawks) combined with the Jekyl/Hyde nature of Hasselbeck this year so far. May have figured they wouldn't need to get that creative defensively to get a couple of turnovers and let the offense win the game. Guessing we'll see more of the pressure packages out of them starting in the second half. Also doesn't hurt that Seattle has used some quick hitters to try and dissuade the Saints from bringing too much pressure.

It's going to be an interesting second half as what I really fear is that the Seahawks continue to not get a lot of pressure on Brees and he goes off. The Seattle D needs to figure out a way to make him get out of his comfort zone and get some hits on him or else this lead could be really short lived.

and sometimes on Saturday ;)

stevew 01-08-2011 05:24 PM

I actually hope the Saints lose because it will give Drew Brees a few extra weeks to clean up the oil spill

whomario 01-08-2011 05:30 PM

wow, this was an awesome play/call/throw !

i´m having fun watching this as a "not-so-regularly-watching" guy

kingfc22 01-08-2011 05:30 PM

Boom goes the dynamite!

Ragone 01-08-2011 05:30 PM

saints gonna lose this game, i really think they thought just showing up would win them the game this week

When the commish got interviewed some time ago about the playoffs he mentioned how people have talked about changing the seedings. He never mentioned changing the fact that regardless if you win your division you are in. In other words, Seattle would still be in if a possible rule change would happen. The only difference is that they would be the #6 seed. Only the Pats are the one team I feel remotely comfortable in saying they would win a game. The NFC is a complete roll of the dice. N.O. is good enough to blow them out, but it's a Saints team that has struggled a lot as well.

Parity. A 7-9 team isn't that far off from a 10-6 team, especially when they are playing in the loudest stadium in the NFL.

Well it isn't really fair, I mean if the rest of us could walk on water then we'd be able to handle the spill as easily as Drew "Chuck Norris" Brees.

kingfc22 01-08-2011 05:54 PM

Wow. Little early for that much desperation.

panerd 01-08-2011 06:13 PM

Wow these announcers are really bad. How could they miss the ref's signaling touchdown and the extra point special teams coming on to the field before finally figuring out a touchdown had been scored? Even their graphics department has touchdown on the screen and the score changed.

panerd 01-08-2011 06:14 PM

Now they are trying to justify why they missed the touchdown.

Horrible announcers. Idiots.

whomario 01-08-2011 06:18 PM

Seahawk receivers with a couple baaaaaad plays in the 2nd half...

panerd 01-08-2011 06:20 PM

I have no horse in this race at all and it looks like Seattle has collapased. I could see New Orleans winning by double digits.

While 17 points in 12 minutes is possible, it's unlikely.

Can you explain how they could play the Bears? The Falcons will get the lowest seed (which gets re-seeded before the games next week), and there is no way the Seahawks won't be the lowest seed.

I think they stay #4 even though they are the worst team. I vaguely remember something similar happening a few years ago. Cardinals maybe?
