Interest in a Pro Football Simulator MP League?

Pro Football Simulator has been discussed a bit in another thread - Football sims dead? - Front Office Football Central

Their website - Professional Football Simulator by Barcode Games

If you go to buy the game, use the referral link: Click here to visit Barcode Games.

The game is $25.

The developer seems very open to feedback. There seem to be some really cool features. The stats appear to be relatively solid.

However, it seems to have SP issues that would not be an issue in MP (things like roster AI for instance).

So, I would like to start a league up for PFS to see how the game works as an MP game. I'd rather it be with FOFC folks than the guys over at their message board as we may be looking for something else than them. My hope would be that we could use it to give feedback to the developer and eventually start up a full league.

It has completely custom league sizes that can be changed after each season. I'd like at least 8 people to start and we could expand from there.

For this "test" part, I'd like a relatively aggressive schedule. Probably "at least" one sim a day, with the possibility of a setup where we sim when everyone has a file in so that we can get multiple in a day.

So - who's interested? If I can get at least 7 other people, I will start putting rules, schedule, etc out there.

Is this game web-based?

Do we get the game for free since we will be beta-testing it for the developer?

It is not web-based. It does have a fantastic MP interface though - no FTP, web created, whatever file transfer.

No, we won't get it for free. This is more about giving feedback to make it a game that we at FOFC would like than it is about working out a bunch of bugs.

gstelmack 09-13-2011 01:50 PM

I'll think about it, I may be interested.

+1 same here. I think I'd be up for it but don't know for sure just yet.

Lonnie 09-13-2011 09:42 PM

I'll download the demo and give it a chance. Then I might be on board.

Updated to track those interested at the top.

Well, the offer was there.

I'd be more than happy to provide free copies of the game to help you guys evaluate it and identify areas of improvement.

Went back and worked with the developer based on the part that 21C quoted.

The developer has given us a few free licenses to get our test league going. Consider it somewhat like beta testing for this league. They will be given on a first come, first serve basis. If you leave the league or stop participating, the license will be revoked so that it can be given to someone participating in the league.

Please don't ask for a license if you're not prepared to be active and to give feedback.

I'm in, Wade. I'm willing to pay if you don't have enough free licenses for everyone.

gstelmack 09-14-2011 11:01 AM

I'll certainly take one.

Great, I'll let you know. It mostly depends on whether we start with 8 or we end up starting with more than 8.

Gotcha on the list.

Same as MBBF...I'll pay unless you have an extra license at the end of it.

sjshaw 09-14-2011 11:09 AM

I'll give it a shot.

Put me in this camp, too.

wade moore 09-14-2011 11:17 AM

We have 8 now. This was the minimum I wanted to get going.

I'll start putting some semblance of a constitution (expect it to be relatively loose for now) together, schedule, etc. I'd suggest d/ling the demo and checking it out. If you're used to FOF you'll have to throw some of your FOF mindset out the window.

I'll set a date for final sign-ups for season one once I get the other stuff together. More than 8 would be great, but it has to fit one of the "league sizes" that he has in game. There are a lot of them, so we should be fine as long as we don't get a strange number of owners.

Fritz 09-14-2011 11:31 AM

Wade,

Put me on the list, on reserve if you want to stay at 8. I can scare up cash.

Probably best to keep me in the loop through one of your other avenues until I get into the swing of things.

+1 for me. I'd be in.

eiskrap 09-14-2011 11:48 AM

If the league is getting bigger I would be interested to try it out MP. I would want to purchase outright.

wade moore 09-14-2011 12:47 PM

If anyone goes to buy it, use this link:

Click here to visit Barcode Games.

Gives me a referral and credit towards future purchases, so we could use that to roll into future license future purchases.

Might be a cool way to quantify our impact on the game too.

Passacaglia 09-14-2011 02:31 PM

Sorry wade, on second thought, I think I'm out. Good luck!

CubsFan915 09-14-2011 03:19 PM

I'm stretched a bit thin financially at the moment, but if there are any of the licenses left, I'd love to pitch in...

wade moore 09-14-2011 04:26 PM

The list has been updated.

I hope to get some structure up in the next day or so.

Expect very few rules, but I want to at least set expectations with frequency of sims, giving feedback on the game, etc. Also need to put a schedule of some kind together.

TRO 09-14-2011 06:06 PM

Count me in.

Lonnie 09-14-2011 07:21 PM

I think I'll pass for now.

wade moore 09-15-2011 10:45 AM

Team Claiming time!

We've got 12 interested, so we're going to go with 12 teams. 6 AFC, 6 NFC. I'm trying to get divisional alignments so that if we expand later, we can keep with NFL setups.

Ben is helping me out and part of that is giving us a dedicated forum on the CCFL forum.

So, please go to http://108.59.255.76/~benelou/ccfl/f...splay.php?f=17 for the forum.

I have a thread there with the basic rules. Please review and post any comments/questions.

I also have a thread for team selection - grab your teams!

wade moore 09-15-2011 11:13 AM

I'll also start a waiting list now. We can expand at the end of each season, so if no one drops out, there is still an opportunity for getting in.

wade moore 09-16-2011 07:22 AM

Anyone watching this closer than the main forum - first file is due Monday morning, see the CCFL forum for more details!
