Seriously?

Sorry, but this is the first time I heard about it, or at least that it caught my attention.

In a company newsletter is was talking about different things that people do outside of work and one was described as "an extreme sports athlete" and the next phrase was that he does the extreme sport of planking.

Sorry but .... SERIOUSLY? Extreme sport?

Not sure what gets me going the most, that he considers himself an extreme sports athlete; that he talks about having a helmet that he wears during it or that his most memorable time that he speaks of is doing it on a park bench and "enjoyed hearing the comments of others while he was doing that".

What were the comments? "Look at that idiot." "What is that a**hole doing? I want to actually sit on that bench."

He wears a helmet for this? I was expecting to hear that he 'planks' in dangerous places.... but a park bench? Seriously?

Sorry, this just blew my mind completely. It seems that my brain is not wired properly to understand any of that.


The whole "extreme sport" + "athlete" + "helmet" + "park bench" just puzzles me.



Okay, end of rant. :)

I'm assuming he is a hipster? Or this was a joke. Either way he's a moron.

Planking

To plank. To lay horizontally in a strange or unusual place. To plank you must lay horizontally straighten your body and point your fingers and toes down (towards your feet), then you must name your "plank" and post a picture of the creator (of the plank) performing the pose on Facebook.

Planking is a great pastime for people who get bored easily and have friends willing to take pictures of them looking like retards. Public planking is more adventurous and is harder to pull off especially on things like: cop cars, public toilets, and in the middle of six way highways.

Planking can also be dangerous if performed: in places of frequent use, the tops of tall buildings and placed frequented by pedophiles and rapists.

Yeah, this was a big news story back a while when some kid died after falling off a high balcony he was planking on.

I heard on the radio that 'coning' is a newer fad. It's too stupid for me to take the time to explain.

The Office had a great treatment of this. Meredith planking the bathroom stall and getting pwned by the fire extinguisher was awesome.sex.
