In Living Color returning to FOX for mid-season prime-time specials

Fox is bringing back early 1990s sketch comedy series In Living Color — with original producer Keenen Ivory Wayans as host and executive producer. The network has ordered two half-hour primetime specials that will air in midseason, Deadline first reported, with an option for a series order if the episodes perform strong.

Fox getting back into the sketch comedy game is definitely interesting, and Color was a ground-breaking show — countering NBC’s East Coast college frat-friendly humor on Saturday Night Live with a more diverse and raunchy style that helped define Fox’s early years. Moreover, Color helped launch the careers of the Wayans brothers, as well as Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx — plus Jennifer Lopez, who was one of the show’s “fly girl” dancers. What do you think of the revival? Does homey play dat? Here’s a couple classic sketches:

Interesting. Very curious to see if this lives up to the nostalgia I have for it.

um....wow. interesting. It's all about the talent though. It could easily tank immediately. Would be cool if the originals came back for for a couple specials and that's it. And I hope Keenan does not put himself in skits again altho i know he probably will. The guy just isn't funny.

I hope for the best, but it comes across as desperation.

I'd rather just watch the old Living Color (I'm not even sure Fox could get away with Men on Film or some of the other stuff today on network TV). But we can always use more sketch comedy on TV - maybe it will be good on its own merits.

I thought those guys went away after I gave them that Funny Vibe.

Is Jim Carrey going to be in it?

There isn't a week that goes by - that I DON'T make a "Hey Mon" reference.
