1839 FA Public Auction

Quote:

This is ONLY FOR PLAYERS YOU WISH TO INCLUDE ON YOUR MAJOR LEAGUE ROSTER. For clerical purposes, this is the easiest way to do this, because the game will take too long to allow you to make signings doing it the natural way.

So for instance. It should go like this:

NEW YORK
SP David Dumbo - 1 year/$1.5 million
LF Jock Strapper - 3 year/$15 million (5 million per year)

For simplicity, no incentives or anything else can be offered on second-half free agents. Just straight cash, homey. You can outline the terms of the contract. Also, minimum bids are at least 1 year/$1 million. For the purposes of your salary cap situation, you can sign a guy knowing that the deal will be prorated for the 2nd half of the season of the current year. (That's primarily a rule intended for the future, not so much this year with most of us far under the cap.)

Deadline is the same as the export deadline. If someone else posts on a guy you want, you obviously can make a new post on this same thread and change your offer. At the deadline, deals will be awarded:

1. To the team offering the most cash for the most frontloaded cash. (Example: Boston offers a guy a 5 year deal worth $20m at $4m per year, Dallas offers him a 4-year deal worth $20m at $5m per year. Dallas would get him, since he gets more cash up front with the Dallas deal.)

In the event that teams are offering the same amount of frontloaded cash, tiebreakers will be:

2. Team that offers a deal with most overall value (a team offering $20.1 million wins over a team offering $20m over the life of the deal.)

and if still tied:

3. Team with the worst winning percentage in the current standings (to date) gets right of first refusal.

All auction bids are considered restricted free agent tenders. Meaning if you post, it's as good as signing the guy unless another team bumps you off of him.

Pull out yer wallets, boys.
