Selection show starts in 10 minutes

Thinking the Hoosiers get a 4 seed. I'll be happy with that. Be happier if they avoid Kentucky's bracket.

I thought it was at 7pm?

Lathum 03-11-2012 05:00 PM

Getting nervous for the selection show. Hoping for a longshot selection for my Huskies. Either way, I am fired up for the selection show. Great day to be a dude!

sterlingice 03-11-2012 05:00 PM

And here we go...!

No one really shocked about Kentucky

Same with me :D

Interesting. 3/4 one seeds lost their conference tourny

sterlingice 03-11-2012 05:05 PM

A little surprising with UNC staying at #3. That's ok, I bet the committee does them the "favor" of sending either Kansas or Mizzou to St Louis as their #2.

SI

Lathum 03-11-2012 05:05 PM

dola- that could be good news for my Huskies if the committee is undervaluing conference tournament results

That's because the tourney committee is a damn moving target. A couple of years ago, they handed out #1 seeds to the tourney winners over better teams because... I dunno... it sounded better that year.

Then again, it's not like Florida State or Louisville or Colorado were going to make it. Mizzou was the one hurt by their moving target this year.

Of course, I'd be perfectly happy if it was us :)

SI

sterlingice 03-11-2012 05:11 PM

VCU-Wichita State: definitely a fan of that game

good call

TargetPractice6 03-11-2012 05:12 PM

I want to see Kentucky get another shot at Indiana so badly.

Of course not. The committee says they never do that sort of thing, but it always feels like they do

SI

tarcone 03-11-2012 05:13 PM

Mizzou would prefer a 2 in the Midwest over a 1 in the West, I would imagine.

sterlingice 03-11-2012 05:15 PM

Wait- WTF. Did Seth Davis just say Baylor was going to lose in the first round?

Kansas, too :)

SI

Lathum 03-11-2012 05:16 PM

Well, so far the first bracket was good for at large hopes. Didn't see any of the other bubble teams so far that we are "competing" against.

TargetPractice6 03-11-2012 05:16 PM

I just love this bracket. Kentucky could potentially have to play UCONN, Indiana, and Duke to go to the Final Four. That would be a lot of fun!

he did. South Dakota is really good. They took it to us at home earlier this year (yet another game Romar didn't have us ready to play in)

Exactly. I was hoping they wouldn't, but of course they'll stick them in there. Imagine the build up of that game? Two massive fan bases, the memory of one of the best games of the year. I think they'll both make it too. Kentucky will win this time around, but IU will give them a run.

After the last three years, if you told me IU would be a four seed, I would have thought you were smoking crack. This will go down as one of my favorite IU teams. Now, a sweet sixteen appearance would be a nice ending.

Izulde 03-11-2012 05:18 PM

I figured wed be in the 5-7 range, so a 6 seed is right in middle

spleen1015 03-11-2012 05:18 PM

Duke will lose to Notre Dame. Put it on the board.

Lathum 03-11-2012 05:19 PM

Not much respect for Memphis.

sterlingice 03-11-2012 05:19 PM

For Indiana, problem is: without Jones- isn't that going to be pretty tough to get anywhere deep?

SI

tarcone 03-11-2012 05:20 PM

I dont think Indiana gets by round 2.

ColtCrazy 03-11-2012 05:20 PM

Top half of Michigan State's bracket isn't too bad. Really like Sparty's chances at a Final Four.

Lathum 03-11-2012 05:20 PM

Wow, winner of big east a 4 seed.

#2 in West.

sterlingice 03-11-2012 05:21 PM

Iona!

SI

Lathum 03-11-2012 05:21 PM

Shit, Iona gets in. Really hurts us.

It hurts their rotation, no doubt. But the freshman that took Jones spot isn't bad. They've been playing pretty well as of late. If they can figure out the rotation, and it seemed like they got a bit better in the 2nd half of the Wisconsin loss, then I think they can get by Wichita State.

sterlingice 03-11-2012 05:22 PM

Murray St might have been underseeded. However, Marquette isn't a horrible 2nd round draw.

SI

ColtCrazy 03-11-2012 05:22 PM

Michigan St. got a gifted bracket. Kentucky's is much harder.

sterlingice 03-11-2012 05:22 PM

Also, I refuse to call the first 4 "The First Round"

I am shocked that they sent the Big 12 Tourney winner out west. Kansas gets more play for winning the regular season?

sterlingice 03-11-2012 05:23 PM

Actually, Mizzou didn't get the home court but they have to be pretty happy with their bracket.

Nah, they'll screw us by sending us to Boston to play Syracuse. Just watch

Well, the regular season is a longer process.

tarcone 03-11-2012 05:23 PM

West is week.

As soon as they kept UNC on the #1 line, they had to scramble up where they sent all the 2s so Kansas or Mizzou didn't get to go to St Louis

This. Kansas gets the 2 in the East. Ohio State the 2 in the Midwest then?

Lathum 03-11-2012 05:25 PM

Unreal Iona will get in and not the regular season PAC 12 winner. No way you are gonna tell me Iona is better than UW, or a number of other bubble teams.

And, yes, I just contradicted what I posted 10 minutes ago because I went from optimistic to pessimistic
