FOFC Sprint Cup Series - Season 2 - FINAL STANDINGS POSTED

Welcome to Season 2 of the FOFC Sprint Cup Series.

2 more spots are open for the new season if you still wish to get in. FOFC Sprint Cup Series Season 2 Sign-ups - 2 Open Spots - Front Office Football Central

CHASE FORMAT

After 15 "regular season" races, the top 10 drivers, as determined by points accumulated during the season, automatically advance to contend for the Sprint Cup championship. These drivers are joined by two "wild card" qualifiers, specifically the two drivers ranked from 11th through 41st in drivers' points who have the most regular-season race wins. The 12 drivers' championship points are reset to a base of 2,000 per driver. Each of the 10 automatic qualifiers receives a bonus of 3 points for each win during the regular season, while the two wild card qualifiers receive no bonus. Every driver then will receive a bonus for their final position after 15 races. Wild card qualifiers receive no bonus.

1st - 20 bonus points
2nd - 18 bonus points
3rd - 16 bonus points
4th - 14 bonus points
5th - 12 bonus points
6th - 10 bonus points
7th - 8 bonus points
8th - 6 bonus points
9th - 4 bonus points
10th - 2 bonus points

Normal scoring applies during the Chase, with race winners earning 43 base points plus 3 bonus points, all drivers who lead a lap earning 1 bonus point, and the driver who leads the most laps earning 1 bonus point in addition to any other points earned.

We are moving to the new NASCAR scoring system this season.

SCORING SYSTEM

In addition to the points allocated:
* Any driver who leads a lap during a race receives one bonus point.
* The driver who leads the most laps receives an additional one bonus point.
* The race winner receives three bonus points.

Dexter and his brand new #63 Quaker State Cyber Rams Racing Chevy is ready to go. I'm hoping we found the right setup this year.

The Daytona 500 is set for a 9:00 PM Eastern run time tomorrow night.

cmp 04-02-2012 11:49 AM

The Daytona countdown is on. Just over 8 hours until the green flag drops.

wade moore 04-02-2012 12:01 PM

I'm such a nerd that I'm so excited for this ;).

And I'm getting RendeR's copy of the game, so that's exciting to me as well.

Still looking to start doing car designs, but finding time isn't as easy as I'd like.

korme 04-02-2012 12:17 PM

The record keeping is going to make this a whole lot of fun.

Daytona 500 Pre-Race

Welcome to the 2nd annual running of the FOFC Sprint Cup Series' Daytona 500. The drivers and their teams have spent the offseason working hard on changes to their cars to be ready for the 2nd season of FOFC Sprint Cup Series Racing. Once again all of the top contenders are back, including series champion Nick Phillips, runner-up Chris Snow and 6-time winner last season Trick Dickle. Who will break out from the rest of the pack to challenge these three? Defending Daytona 500 winner Benton Gale is back and looking to make it two in a row. Five rookies are entered and ready to go with the new season. And it's possible a few more may enter before the 500 is set. Will Rylan Parker, Doug Moore, Wade Moore, Alex Donovan or Lautaro Tesar be breakout stars? Season 1 Chase Qualifier Dexter Jackson has a new ride this year, the #63 Quaker State car and has joined up with Cyber Rams Racing. We'll see if the new team will help him find success. Also, we have three new tracks on the schedule this year. Two 1.5 mile speedways in Kentucky and Vermont and then a monster 4 mile superspeedway Piggzcreek. That race will be something else.

First practice and qualifying are about to get underway for the 500. Who will get the pole this year?

PurdueBrad 04-02-2012 03:54 PM

Hoping for a better showing, we'll see though.

cmp 04-02-2012 04:50 PM

Just a quick note before we start the season. We are moving to the new NASCAR points system this season.

wolverine29 04-02-2012 05:41 PM

We're pumped up and ready to go! Cyber Rams Racing will be a force this year.

PilotMan 04-02-2012 05:50 PM

I have a feeling that things are going to tighten up even more this year. I'm hoping that we made the right choices on the changes we made.

I like that the lack of knowledge of the stat system will likely put the Rookies behind the curve, making a natural system where the vets perform better ;).

The points change will DEFINITELY tighten things up.

PackerFanatic 04-02-2012 06:33 PM

I like that we are going to the new points system...definitely easier to understand :)

16 Colors opens its doors in tonight's race. We're optimistic that we can have a good showing and build for the future!

Race #1 - Daytona 500 Results

Last season's Daytona 500 was a very cleanly run race. The same cannot be said about this years. But despite the difference in how the race was run, the winner was the same. Benton Gale is now a back-to-back Daytona 500 winner by leading the race's final 10 laps to take the win. With all of the crashes and car problems only 5 cars were left on the lead lap at the finish. It looked like Ace Idol, who had the dominant car all day and led 101 laps, would run down Gale at the end but he made a mistake and fell back heading to the final lap. Gale pulled away and had no challenge for the win. Rookies Alex Donovan and Doug Moore both had great races early on as Donovan led 42 laps and Moore led 28. But, both dropped out with mechanical failures ending their runs.

kingfc22 04-02-2012 08:56 PM

FC Racing with a nice start to the season :)

cmp - Do you happen to have career earnings? That would be cool to see tracked.

PilotMan 04-02-2012 09:35 PM

Wow! Love the new stats! Nice to see the first race run now, but not a great showing in Daytona for us. It's a long season, but 2 DNF's is a hole to start in.

I don't right now. Just found a new stat program to use with the game. I am going to try and see if I can put all of last season's results through it though.

cmp 04-02-2012 10:17 PM

The highlights from the race are on their way.

wade moore 04-02-2012 10:22 PM

So what does "retired" mean? Engine failure?

I think not having the year under my belt to have some semblance of what stats to pick early on is going to be frustrating.

It was an accident. I think the game differentiates the Accident and Retired by drivers that are able to drive back to the pits after a wreck and then can't continue are listed as Retired. Drivers who cannot drive their car back to the pits after a wreck are listed as Accident.

Gotcha. So not a whole lot I can read of that.

Good to see that Doug Moore did well in his 1st race with 28 laps led, hoping that it's not an indication of a poor engineering team behind the racecar.

britrock88 04-02-2012 11:08 PM

New season!... but Helen gets her first career DNF and starts the season in a hole. Rip is up to his usual mediocrity.

PurdueBrad 04-02-2012 11:10 PM

WOW, new stats are amazing. Glad to see Team Dumbo starting off well despite poor qualifying.

BYU 14 04-02-2012 11:22 PM

Great job cmp, new stat format looks great.

Even better, with a 2nd and 7th place finish Topaw racing is off to a great start!!!!

MrBug708 04-02-2012 11:47 PM

Top qualifier, but couldnt convert with a 19th place finish

wolverine29 04-02-2012 11:53 PM

It looks like Dexter survived most of the carnage to come home 14th. An okay start we'll see how we fare at the speedways.

korme 04-03-2012 12:01 AM

My rookie topped all rookies, I'll take it

RendeR 04-03-2012 12:39 AM

Ouch.

Yes we are! ToPaw racing looked as tough as FC Racing...I don't want to get my hopes up but we will see how Avery can hang in there as Ace has proven himself already.

lordscarlet 04-03-2012 07:11 AM

Bah! I hope the car can hold up to Doug Moore's awesome driving skills in the rest of the races!

wade moore 04-03-2012 07:20 AM

cmp.. since I'm new to this.. how often do you generally run races?

PackerFanatic 04-03-2012 07:43 AM

Absolutely love the new stats, cmp. Great start to the season for Elliott, not so much for Andrew. Still nice and early though - and congrats to Benton Gale on back-to-back Daytona wins!

Coffee Warlord 04-03-2012 08:09 AM

Wow, I'm loving the new stats and format.

And now that there are Team stats...Flying Yak Enterprises is hiring. :)

DataKing 04-03-2012 09:45 AM

You've got to tip your cap to Gale...the man knows how to run at Daytona, no doubt about it. Congratulations Benton.

As for the Dickle, looks like we're picking up right where we left off last season with a strong finish, despite being a little flaccid at qualifying.

(Definitely love the new stat layout and the race earnings, cmp. Any chance you could post total earnings from Season 1? The Dickle wants to know just how fabulously wealthy he is now. :D )

sterlingice 04-03-2012 11:30 AM

Also, echoing the praise of the new format. Really nice add, cmp

LOVE the video, kind of stinks that it seems the #38 Chick-Fil-A car is a bit hard to pick out in the crowd.

CrimsonFox 04-04-2012 07:57 AM

LOL HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! BEST CRASH EVER! Even IF those two crashes took out both my drivers :( BUt I loved it! :)

MacroGuru 04-04-2012 08:13 AM

#92 went for a wild ride...Some aggressive driving on the track in the back of the pack.
