Anyone watch last night?

Yes. Enjoyed it quite a bit.

DVRed it. Hopefully get through the whole thing this weekend at the latest.

How historical is it? I saw an ad for it but was worried they would overplay the historical violence.

I caught the last half of it and really enjoyed it. Hope I can catch the first bit that I missed at some point but I've got the DVR set to record the rest of it.

Shit. I forgot about it.

I'll probably DVR and watch it. Just got so tired of THC's plugging of it and cross plugging of it: suddenly American Pickers have an appointment with a Hatfield, then Pawn Stars randomly has someone out of the blue show up with a rifle from Cap the week before the mini-series starts?

I can accept it a little more with American Pickers where they at least have to "make an appointment" for some of these picks. With Pawn Stars the whole idea is random people showing up over the course of their business so it just bugged me a little more over the shill showing up with that rifle.

Watched Part 2 last night and enjoyed it. Just having a gander over at the wiki about the feud it looks like the series is following the "facts" pretty well.

Definitely looking forward to Part 3 next week.

Aren't most of the reality shows staged nowadays? I like the concept of them but the fake aspect just bugs me to no end.

I wouldn't be surprised if people did have to make an appointment for selling something to the guys on Pawn Stars now (at least something that they think might be worth a good deal of money). It became such a hit that their store has become a tourist attraction. You can google images of the store, and you'll find pics of people lined up around the block to get in and images from inside and the store is completely packed with people.

I'd be shocked if the deals (if they are real) aren't done when the store is actually closed and that people would have to make an appointment.

Edit: Looked at their website. Open from 9am to 9pm, makes no mention of having to make an appointment, so *shrug*

A sequence of the show was going to be filmed there in a few minutes and the guest seller was wandering around the store bewildered with a book and an old military hat that he was planning to sell. It was probably a real situation, but it was obvious that everything was previously arranged, as is in most TV shows. Just before they were ready to shoot, ALL the customers were run out of the store and there was no "live" audience. They told everyone that it would take maybe 45 minutes to shoot the less than 5 minute sequence, but after 15-30 minutes in the direct sunlight, many people had left. After an hour, there were still a few people waiting outside.

What you see on TV doesn't happen there everyday and is not a typical day at a pawn shop. It makes me wonder just when do they film the outside sequences. When is there never any traffic on Las Vegas Blvd.? When are there no cars in their parking lot when they do a narration or inspect something that has been driven or towed in? Maybe they make everyone move their cars out of the parking lot or they have them towed away. I was disappointed at not being able to meet any of the "Pawn Stars", but I understand. I was mentioned to my wife the other day while watching an episode that I think some of the descriptions/info of events surrounding the items are dubbed/edited in because you never see Rick explaining it in the same screenshot as the seller. It's just weird when, say, a person brings in an item for which they have a direct connection to the events and he describes the events to them.

Anyways, I find the show interesting and still watch it, even though some of it is obviously faked.

Simple rule to follow: The shows are as real as you want them to be. Some are totally real. Some are, lets just say less real.
