Replacing staff members & their contracts - help!
I can't find anything about this: What happens to the contract of your old coach/scout/co-ordinator when you take on someone new?
For example, if my Head Coach has 4 years to run on his contract and I decide to hire a new guy, I realise that I get the new person and the previous HC will be gone, but do my finances take a hit due to the 4 years remaining on his contract which I've just terminated? Have to export my next file imminently, so any speedy replies would be greatly appreciated - I don't know whether to ditch my current HC, as he's the highest paid in the league! |
I may be wrong but I think the financial implications are minimal. I don't think it really matters if you are paying a previous HC or not. The main drawback of signing a new coach is that coaching tenure has a strong affect on penalties. (ex. The longer your coach has been with your team the fewer penalties that your team should have)

Ok thanks. Yeah I had read about the penalties issue... there are some really good HCs available though! I guess I'll examine my coaches tenure and take it from there. The same doesn't apply to Co-Ordinators does it? They're just for developing players?

Yes. To my knowledge, coordinators only affect the development of certain positions (either offensive or defensive) and do not have an effect on team penalties.

I think you're on hook for the rest of his contract, but probably not the full salary. If they take a hit, it probably is a lump sum in one or two years (the way bonuses work when you cut a guy).
So it probably is a hit against your profits # for the year, but that doesn't matter that much because of how the profits system works. If I recall, the team with the highest profits gets to spend _____ on coaches. The team with the second highest, etc....the worst that can happen is you won't have much at your disposal to hire. In summary, if you can really upgrade, do it. Upgrading a coaching position trumps the minimal potential slotting change in profits. |
I'm almost entirely positive that the previous salary just vanishes into thin air.
