IWS #200: Remember our History

The rules are the same as previous FOFC "I’m With Stupid" Contests, as set forth by the game’s widely revered and beloved founding fathers.

The object of this contest is to answer the questions posted, and to provide the most common answer among those submitted. For each question, your score will be equal to the number of people who submitted that response. Your score for the contest will be the product of your individual question scores. Yes, that word "product" means that they will be multiplied together, not added. Highest score wins.

Collaboration of any kind is strictly forbidden. No posting your answers to this board, nor sharing them by e-mail or in any other way with other potential contestants. Just don't be an asshat, and this should end well.

All determinations of "matches" and anything else requiring judgment fall to that of the sole administrator of this round of the game. You can reduce the need for doubt and judgment by properly spelling your submissions, being clear, and that sort of thing. The administrator's decisions are final and utterly inarguable, no exceptions.

Any references that are unclear to you, due to language or geography, should be understood to be authored from the perspective of an English-speaking American. However, your answers do not necessarily have to be correct in order to score points. If I ask "What was the second-best comedy of the 1980s after Cheers?" and you answer "The Cosby Show" along with 20 others, you each (shockingly) score 21 points, despite the fact that the indisputable correct answer is "Night Court."

The Questions

IWS turns 200! To celebrate our anniversary, let's take a step back to when it all started.

1. It's 1812. Your position as hedge fund trader or bounce house operator does not exist. What do you do for a living?

2. You've gotten your small pox vaccine thanks to Edward Jenner. What disease are you most fearful of dying from?

3. Louisiana joins the Union as the 18th state. Citizens of the other 17 states are free at last to get drunk on Bourbon Street and expose their breasts to strangers. What state do you live in?

4. You broke a couple of looms in a Luddite uprising and the British government has sentenced you to hang. What is the entrée for your last meal?

5. You and your wife Eliza Martha finally have a lovely baby boy. Since US Weekly hasn’t been invented yet, what in the name of Jehovah do you name your son?

6. The lesson to never get involved in a land war in Asia has not yet been learned. On your long retreat from Russia, how many fingers and toes do you lose to frostbite before you reach Paris?

Some very hard and some very easy questions , but the timing of less than 2 hours before the first NFL Surnday is hard to ignore.

Will come back to this one.
