What Kind of FOFC Poster Are You?

I have identified some different archetypes. Which sort of poster are you? The following analysis ensues:

Sniper: This poster posts rarely on the forum, but when he does, it's a really good post.

Shotgun: The poster posts a bunch of posts at once, then waits for a while before posting a bunch again.

Dynastic: This poster shows up, posts on his dynasty, then leaves. No messing around with the other stuff.

Shadow: This poster is your classic lurker. The one who never posts. The Anti-Poster.

Communitarian: This poster seems to exist to cheer everybody else up. They post about how they love your dynasty, how you are great here, help you out the in forum, and essentially seem like a cyber crossing guard.

Debater: Not here for the football or the dynasties, this poster is here to argue and debate in posts on abortion, war, affirmative action, religion, and other threads.

I think that I'm a Shotgun poster myself. Who are you? Other archetypes?

I'd say I'm Shotgun too. Although there should be a category saying "Question-asker" because I usually come on here to ask about something :)

VPI97 04-29-2003 09:00 PM

I'd say Sniper...but usually my posts suck.

korme 04-29-2003 09:00 PM

im also shotgun, mostly home from school.

often, you can find me firing off 3 or four posts in a row, in the same thread, without so much as a dola

:)

John Galt 04-29-2003 09:02 PM

I'd guess I'm supposed to be the debater type, but I think the description is a bit overstated. I've posted about FOF, OOTP, and an array of sports sim issues. I also am a regular dynasty reader - I just don't have time to do my own dynasty. It is just that my political posts trigger the most response and are noticed the most. ;)

bosshogg23 04-29-2003 09:09 PM

Im definitely shotgun. Paticularly if someone needs live boxing updates! Or if someone asks a question where I can answer with 50 words or less(see this thread).

McSweeny 04-29-2003 09:09 PM

i'd have to say i'm a shotgun poster...

tucker342 04-29-2003 09:15 PM

Debater/Communitarian. I'm a mix of both

Shotgun though I can turn Dynastic if I really get into something. The Shotgun comes mainly b/c my level of posting correlates to how much I ahve to do at work(I suspect I'm not alone in that).

Chief Rum 04-29-2003 10:22 PM

I don't fit too neatly into any of those designations, so I'm making up my own. I am a...Regular. :)

What is a Regular? It's a guy who sometimes debates, but sometiems stays out of it completely. It's a guy who sometimes does the ra-ra thing, and sometimes does the opposite. It's a guy who does a lot of dynasties, but he doesn't post in many other dynasties. It's a guy who can vary between being a Sniper and being a Shotgun guy.

Basically, an all-posters-combined type of poster. That's what I am. :)

I started as a dynasty poster, and am now the resident pollster/nuisance/reformed non-pollster.

There are two types of FOFC posters: Those with girlfriends, and those with Kleenex's

I'd add:

"The Regular" - Sorta like the guy who is always on the barstool when you go to the neighborhood dive. Fine to talk to, so long as the topic is limited to 1) the game that's currently on the tv screen 2) what his kid is doing in college or 3) when you had a rough day at work and need to vent about 'life'.

Here, that guy posts on pretty much every thread. Most of the time you just ignore his ramblings, but if he's the only guy in the bar (thread) then you can usually get along all right.

"The Asshole" Posts just to piss you off. Will contradict himself, change teams and loyalties and pretty much anything else, just to find a way to call you something colorful that he thought of "while sitting on the shitter reading Popular Mechanics."

"The Voice of Reason" The sort of person who is well-respected enough that when they post, people tend to chill out and become civil again...until the asshole shows up.

"TFNG" Makes a splash at first and either fades into the background or waits a few weeks and then posts a very, very, very long post about his relationship because "we seem like good guys" and he "trusts us." Usually involves a possible STD.

"JV posters" Have been here for a while in some cases, but primarily frequent the boards for a sub-forum of some sort. When posting in OT, get mad when people disregard their point of view. Think post counts should be back in profiles, because they've racked up tons of 'em playing Werewolf. Overestimate their presence in the "community" and tend to think they're cool with people who don't even know who they are.

jbergey22 01-19-2010 01:43 AM

I suppose I would fit the category as a "sports" debater because athough I visit a lot of threads I dont really comment on something unless I dont agree with it. Perhaps eventually I will evolve into a more agreeable poster.
