IWS #203 - The Results
IWS 203 THE RESULTS
Really nothing pithy to offer here, kinda short for time. 1 - in 20 years, what will be the most common method of US voting other than casting an in person ballot on designated election day? 20 online 2 early, text 1 phone, absentee, mail Eliminator question, though I honestly didn't see that coming. 2 - In 20 years, what percent of US votes will be cast in person on election day? 15 50% 4 20% 3 0% 2 75% 1 10,30,70 Stupid, as always, loves him some round numbers. 3 - What state with more consonants than vowels in its name will prove most intriguing in this presidential race as results are tallied? 17 Florida 6 Pennsylvania 1 WI, NC, OH, CO Keep it simple, pick the site of the most well documented election night intrigue in both history and recent memory, Stupid loves that. Really tried to thread the needle with the question (obviously) to make it interesting, with modestly effective results I guess. 4 - What party, outside the current top two, will be the next to register 5% or better in a US presidential election? 20 Libertarian 4 Green 3 Tea Party Alas, I think this is a legitimately wide open question, with the correct answer very possibly being something we haven't heard of yet. Got an array, but another wide margin winner, sadly. Might be the biggest victory margin the libs will see in our lifetime, natch. 5 - If Mitt Romney is elected President, he gets to pick portraits of previous presidents to be displayed to set a tone. He'll make obvious picks of Washington, Lincoln, and Reagan, and then he'll get people talking by also picking...whom? 7 George W Bush 3 Obama, Jefferson, Eisenhower 2 Clinton 1 each Roosevelt, Kennedy, Bush Sr, Coolidge, Adams, TR & Jefferson, Joseph Smith I thought this was the best question of the lot, and am glad it more or less delivered and that the winner had, after all was said and done, a pretty Stupid rationale. I think I would have missed this one, myself. 6 - After Mr. Obama, when will be the next year the US elects a president who is demographically anything other than a "white male" candidate? 11 2016 10 2020 2 2024 1 2032, 2052, 2100, never A curious split, as I see it. If you're going simple why the divide between '16 and '20? I don't really get it, other than maybe the thinking that the juggernaut that is President Romney will remain both solidly popular and verifiably caucasian-male through the next four stretch? Okay, anyway... Simple wins again with uh, when's the next one? And with that, we have our scores: CAST PROVISIONAL BALLOTS THAT REMAINED UNOPENED claphamsa SplitPersonality1 ntndeacon CrimsonFox Dark Cloud General Mike Crapshoot nilodor finketr cuervo72 PurdueBrad Izulde THREW THEIR VOTES AWAY ON NOVELTY CANDIDATES Ben E Lou MIJB#19 critch Desnudo Raiders Army albionmoonlight HAD TROUBLE REMEMBERING HOW THEY VOTED bhlloy stevew britrock88 panerd VOTED FOR THE GUY WITH THE BEST BUMPER STICKER digamma Butter_of_69 DROVE HOMELESS PEOPLE WITH $40 TO THE POLLS Karlifornia HELD A FUDRAISER FULL OF SWELLS Suburban Rhythm GAVE BILLIONS TO A SUPERPAC RPI-Fan EVERYONE GIVE IT UP FOR YOUR NEW KINGMAKER, DEXHOLLAND! |
Sorry, trouble cutting and pasting scores in from OpenOffice, may try later.
I DEMAND A RECOUNT!
Yeah, still not able to be stupid enough for stupid.
Still think Coolidge makes sense.
(Pro-business/anti-regulation, small government conservative, Republican, Governor of Massachusetts, cut taxes. Yeah I know - not very stupid.) |
Best showing ever.
Damn, I thought the sheer volume of consonants in Pennsylvania would win out. I originally had Florida as well
What about your hanging Chad. Cover that up!

"". Same logic. I went with consonants as the trigger point for Stupid, figuring Stupid would go for Ohio first, realize it didn't meet criteria, and then move to the big state next door. |

I think Stupid has finally learned how to follow instructions so he won't do that anymore :) |
My worst showing ever. It's been a couple of years since I've done one of these.
Then again, I've won #4 and #104. That means I'm a lock to in the next one (#204). |
Wow. I thought Clinton was a no-brainer there. I guess I'm *too* stupid. And yeah, never saw "online" coming. That'd never work. Online voting would be stup...
Oh yeah, never mind. :( |
I would have never guessed 'online' either. I figured text messaging could be the real thing in the future, for stupid. Also missed GWB, but I think I made a 'nah, too silly' thinking process mistake there.
I can't believe the disbelief over online!
I think I got them all wrong... :'(
Only went wrong choosing Pennsylvania, but it was enough to take me down. Florida was a definite oversight on my part. The perfect "stupid answer"
congrats dexholland!
(I am assuming I won. My username on the FOBL boards was DexHolland at some point, I believe. Confused by the lack of scores in the results.)

Yes, you win. Carry on. |
I figured it had to be a big Dem to be talked about.
Oh thanks for the clarity! I was really confused about the winner :)
Great IWS questions. They were easy to answer but hard to guess what the winning answers would be.
Dammit, missed #2.
