Man of Steel: Trailer #2
|
Looks better than the last one.
|
So wait, does this have anything to do with the Superman that came out a couple of years ago or is it another reboot?
|
The Superman from a few years ago wasn't a reboot, it was a sequel to the Richard Donner films from the 80s.
|
Ahh, did not know that. So then this one is a complete reboot?
|
And, really, the one from a few years ago really ignored Superman 3 and 4 and basically took place after Superman 2.

This looks incredible. Yeah, it's a complete reboot. From everything I've read, they're trying to set up Justice League starting with the last Batman film and this one.

Sad-perman
|
Look sweet.
I can't wait! |
We'll see. Superman is not Batman. If you insist on putting Superman in morally ambiguous situations, it won't work. They're playing up the "you have to decide who you want to be" part and that has me concerned.

Superman is just not really a character I can connect with. He's just too....... super. I know he has weaknesses, but still... at least Batman can get the crap kicked out of him from time to time, something to create a sense of danger.
|
Just make a Superfriends movie already!!

Nolan's Batman has nothing to do with the JL, and I'm rather postive neither does this Superman. |
I like the tone of this, but I wish they wouldn't go straight to "alien invasion" as the problem he has to deal with. I feel like it undermines the conflict to have some Kryptonian problem follow him here in the "first" movie. They do this in a lot of movies, but I think they should concentrate first on showing us why we need Superman and what he can do for us here on earth. IN a later movie bring some Kryptonian nonsense. If superman brings all these supervillains with him, makes you say, "Why don't you go to another planet, thanks."
That said I'm more interested in this than I thought I would be. I like the visual style. |

You would be wrong. Nolan is no longer denying involvement of "his" Batman in the new Justice League movie, and they have already confirmed that this version of Superman will be represented in the Justice League movie. Based solely on the previews, I think the introducion of Zod (I assume it's Zod) will push Superman to be the man he is. Zod will likely show what someone with Superman's powers - who is evil - can do to the world. How he can shape it, to juxtapose that against Superman. That's just a guess. |

Fundamentally makes no sense. On another forum this was talked about and it was panned in mass. |
Whats the argument for why it doesnt make sense? The characters are in the JLA so since theres going to be a JLA movie youd need to use them.
|
Superman was really cool when flying effects were neato and revolutionary. Totally cannot wait until this one also flops and they try to reboot Stupidman again by 2018.

Batman in the JLA is Bruce Wayne and not Robin/Nightwing playing Batman. |
There was a good 5 month stretch where it was Dick Grayson, aka Robin, in the Batman outfit in JLA.
Also consider this is the cinematic DC universe, where things are different. Much like the Cinematic Marvel Universe, where Nick Fury is black, as an example. It doesn't, nor should it match perfectly with the comics. |
Looks good to me. But I'm not a comic book geek.
Honestly, I liked the last one. :) |

While I understand that, if this is a permanent move it feels out of place. Having Joseph Gordon-Levitt being Batman would be a rather tough sell for me as well. DC's attempt seems more thrown together(rumored to be using Darkseid) compared to Marvel's being planned from the start. |
