Best QB of 2012 Draft Class
 

When it's all said and done in 15-20 years, who will go down as the best quarterback to come out of the 2012 draft class?

Also, looking back knowing what we know now, if the team's re-drafted, where would Russell Wilson go? Would Cleveland take him at 3, Vikes at 4, Jags at 5?

Cleveland would take Wilson at 3 knowing what they know now. At worst, someone would have taken him at 3.

I voted for Luck just based on playing the odds. RG3 has the obvious injury concerns, and with Wilson, you worry about the potential of the read option becoming less effective over time, and again what his smaller stature could mean for him in the future. Luck remains the safest bet, and having a different kind of mobility is the icing on the cake.

Truth is, all three could and should be great, and the right answer to this will likely end up dependent on other factors than just the QBs. I hope we get the chance to see it all play out.

Agree with Logan, all three could be really special for some time, but I also worry about RGIII lasting 10-15 years in the league.

Luck is probably the safest long term bet, but Wilson, despite being undersized is extremely smart and does not take the punishment RGIII does.

This early in the game, Luck is my gut feeling. If RGIII has a lengthy career though it will be him.

I think two years from now we will say Wilson was the steal of the draft, too bad about Griffin's injuries and Luck is a solid No. 1 pick. Ten years from now Luck will be the class of the draft.

I actually think Griffin can transition to someone who runs less and is a mobile pocket passer but he won't survive running as much as he did this year.

I loved Wilson coming out of the draft but never imagined he would be this good this fast. He's a lot like Kaepernick, and until defenses figure out how to stop it, it will work.

You have to think Luck will get better. His numbers compared to Manning's rookie season are eerie, and Luck was a little bit better. The knock on him this year is the interceptions, but rookie QBs throw interceptions. The question is can rookies throw TDs. He did. Reduce those interceptions by half, which comes from picking up the speed and reading defenses, and he will do that.

For the best season I'd give slight edge to Wilson over RGIII.

Luck, on the other hand, was asked to do more with less than either of those two had. Luck had younger offensive talent around him and no running game. He also didn't have Mike Shannahan who is amazing at covering up Quarterback's weaknesses and playing to their strengths.

I'm curious to see what happens with Wilson and RGIII as the league figures out the read option. In the long run it's not going to be as effective as it was this year. College teams that are experienced in seeing it appear to be ahead of the NFL in how to handle it. It was sad watching Damarcus Ware completely lost against Washington in week 17 because the Cowboys gameplan against it seemed to be "DeMarcus is good enough to stop it without doing anything different".

I'd go Luck, Wilson, RGIII in that order as far as careers go. With or without the injuries I believe Luck and Wilson are better Quarterbacks.

If Seattle had won, I would pick Wilson but part of me wants a rematch with a healthy RGIII before making a decision. I'll stand by Luck for now as he seems the safest bet, but so much is based around how well a team is built around the QBs, and we know Wilson already has a stellar team.

Really tough to say right now, but I'd have to go with Luck given what he did with what he had. I think Wilson and RGIII could both be outstanding QBs, but I think I'm always going to opt longterm with the best passer, and I think that's Luck. Put a better team around him and he's probably not having to force so many throws for interceptions either.

I don't get watching tape of Weeden, Foles, Cousins and Wilson and determining Weeden as the best option.

Griffin could be the best, but I just wouldn't bet on him staying healthy. Luck is just about a lock to end up in the Brady, Manning, Brees and Rodgers class.

Griffin was on another planet as far as that goes, but it also goes to the offensive scheme. Griffin simply did not throw the ball downfield. The Redskins approach was the protect the ball at all costs, whereas the Colts wanted Luck to gamble. Luck completed as many passes more than 20 yards than Griffin threw all season, and thew twice as many passes 11-20 yards than Griffin. I give Griffin a ton of credit for having the discipline to stay within the scheme though.

Wilson was similar to Griffin in that he played pretty disciplined in a protect-the-ball offense. But his interception rate was versus Luck was negligible (2.5% vs 2.9%).

Griffin didn't have Garcon for the majority of the season which screwed up the passing game. I think none of his other receivers could catch.

If Luck or Griffin get to add Mike Wallace, they will take a massive step forward.

The only way it made sense was if you really felt age would make Weeden more mature and develop faster. I liked Weeden, but not well enough to take him in the first round. I would have taken Wilson before Weeden. I'd have taken Foles as early as the third round.

Cousins is the only one I'm unsure about. He looked nice in spots this year, but is that a mirage? He was a late round/UFA for me. I didn't see anything in college that made me think he was a stud. But that could be wrong big time.

Not someone like, say ., Greg Jennings or anyone else? Just Wallace? You think he'd be agood match for one of teh rookie QBs? I see him as needing a bit more of an established leader and vet at the QB position to keep him on course.

Luck was also helped by having a first ballot HOF lock WR. I suspect Jennings wpuld be franchised but he would improve any passing game.

But remember, coming into this season, he was old and done. At least that was the fantasy logic (tho I took a flier on him in one league and was greatly rewarded).
