Ray Lewis and PED's

Only because I think this will eventually require its own thread. Sports Illustrated released an article today that included a transcript from a recorded phone call between Ray Lewis and his dealer.

Here's a link to the article: Tracing the involvement of NFL, college football players with S.W.A.T.S. - NFL - SI.com

Here's the transcript, pulled from the article itself:

Quote:

Hours after he tore his triceps during an Oct. 14 home game against the Cowboys, Ravens All-Pro linebacker Ray Lewis and Ross connected on the phone. Again, Ross videotaped the call.

"It's bottom, near the elbow," Lewis said of the tear. After asking a few pseudo diagnostic questions, Ross concluded, "All right, well this is going to be simple. . . . How many pain chips you got around the house?"

"I got plenty of them," Lewis replied.

Ross prescribed a deluxe program, including holographic stickers on the right elbow; copious quantities of the powder additive; sleeping in front of a beam-ray light programmed with frequencies for tissue regeneration and pain relief; drinking negatively charged water; a 10-per-day regimen of the deer-antler pills that will "rebuild your brain via your small intestines" (and which Lewis said he hadn't been taking, then swallowed four during the conversation); and spritzes of deer-antler velvet extract (the Ultimate Spray) every two hours.

"Spray on my elbow every two hours?" Lewis asked.

"No," Ross said, "under your tongue."

Toward the end of the talk, Lewis asked Ross to "just pile me up and just send me everything you got, because I got to get back on this this week.

whats interesting is when a deer breaks his antler, he sprays ray lewis' sweat under his tongue

JonInMiddleGA 01-29-2013 07:07 PM

What more concerning ... Ray & PEDS or Ray and PD's?

Snake oil salesmen never die - they just change shape.

Hooray for pseudo-science and poor actual science teaching in our schools!

i only learned recently that snake oil was literally crude oil that had seeped to the surface through "snake holes"(fissures). nobody knew what to do with it so it became a cure all tonic. crazy

i don't think it's horseshit. i'd heard of it before and actually considered trying it. it definitely contains growth hormones but whether they work in the human body or not is still unclear. msnbc:

Quote:

In what might be the most important study done in the United States, a group of scientists took 32 male weight lifters and gave half of them New Zealand Deer Antler Velvet and half of them a placebo for 10 weeks. While the placebo group didn't show any difference in bench or squat tests, those given deer antler velvet saw an increase of 4 percent on the bench press and 10.1 percent on the squat test as compared to the placebo group. The scientists also reported that there was a "significant improvement in aerobic capacity" with the group that was taking deer antler velvet.

molson 01-30-2013 01:08 PM

I bet Lewis would rather field questions about this than that missing white suit of his.

claphamsa 01-30-2013 01:24 PM

Didn't read the article and the talk seemed only to cover Ray. I guess I had assumed if 'Bama and the SEC has ties to this, that angle would have been run with.

+1

I was kind of surprised at the flack one of the Patriot Fans got for calling him a "murdering so and so" in the play off thread. Sure he wasn't convicted, but
if he wasn't a Superbowl MVP NFL player he would likely have seen some square sunshine over that affair. This isn't some sort of "stand up guy" we're talking about here. So while murderer or accessory to murder shouldn't be the first thing to come to mind when considering Ray Lewis, it is still right there on his CV.

JediKooter 01-30-2013 02:21 PM

You know who else was an accessory to murder?

But it's Super Bowl week, it's not time to focus on the NCAA, the SEC, and all the cheating in Miami. That can wait till next week!
