Cincinnati Party/Get together

I'm planning a party to celebrate my new job and the completion of our kitchen remodel, but mostly my new job. I'm hoping it's going to be a happy affair, and I wanted to extend an offer to anyone in the area who wants to join in.

Tentative date is August 10, and right now there is no location set for it. It's either going to be at our house or a location to be determined.

I wanted to invite anyone who wants to come to come join in and have fun. It's been 15 years of planning to get to this point in my career, and I'm not going to let this pass by without enjoying it.

I'll use this thread as info for updates if you think you would like to come.

Lathum 07-24-2013 07:40 PM

Gah! Ill be on vacation. Would totally have gone.

Warhammer 07-24-2013 09:54 PM

What part of town?

sterlingice 07-24-2013 09:57 PM

Official Endorsement

I'm pretty sure PM's not crazy. Or sent a stand-in to go to the Astros game this Sunday. Actually, I'm starting to think the second might have been more likely. Who voluntarily sits through a game that's over after a 7 run 2nd (I mean, besides me since I have no life)? :D

(Maybe that didn't help)

+1

PilotMan 07-24-2013 10:11 PM

Northern Kentucky most likely.

korme 07-24-2013 10:23 PM

Newport is good.

Nice. Thanks. Hardcore baseball fan to the bone. Beats thinking about switches, buttons, bells and horns all day.

molson 07-25-2013 10:00 AM

Can't you just fly around and pick everyone up?

Can you park a 747 in your driveway?

cougarfreak 07-25-2013 11:20 AM

Damn Pilot, my brother and his family are in town that day.

Logan 07-25-2013 11:35 AM

If you want to push this until next Labor Day weekend, when I'll be in Cincy for the first time for a friend's wedding...I'll be there!

Seriously? Have to make a mental note.

britrock88 07-25-2013 12:58 PM

I'll wave down when I fly over Cinci on 8/10. :)

PilotMan 08-02-2013 10:04 AM

I had to postpone this due to logistics and scheduling for the 10th. My schedule got pushed back and I'll still be in Houston now. I don't have a date scheduled for it yet.

In other news, I am totally willing to plan some kind of social get together for anyone in the area. I think we have a fair number of guys in the area.

I had been thinking that a Florence Freedom game might work, or a mass trip to Ikea for meatballs. ;)

Anyone else have any ideas?

Lathum 08-02-2013 10:30 AM

I would be down for a get together.

korme 08-02-2013 11:47 AM

This is the only thing I know about Florence:

damnMikeBrown 08-02-2013 03:35 PM

Isn't training camp free @ Paul Brown this year?

Do they have beer there?

PilotMan 02-07-2014 03:31 PM

Bumping this up.

There has been some interest in the Lorenzen thread about going to a NKY River Monsters game over at NKU.

Just trying to gauge interest in a time and date to do it.

Feb is probably out the door so here are the remaining dates.

March 15
April 5
April 19

Tickets are 10 bucks and shouldn't be hard to come by. There are plenty of other places to go in the area if there is interest.

March 15 seems to be the initial planning date right now. My schedule is still up in the air for a few more days, but drop a line here if you think that it's something you might be able to do.

Lathum 02-07-2014 03:45 PM

I may be at
To swing that with enough notice.

cougarfreak 02-07-2014 04:34 PM

I may be able to swing it. Depends on what saturday my grad school program decides in March. If not, I'm game.

Warhammer 02-07-2014 04:55 PM

Got laid off last Friday. Have a job opportunity I am interviewing for Mon/Tues next week. Interested, but depends on job situation.

holy shit, didnt you just move here for that job?

PilotMan 02-07-2014 05:50 PM

Warhammer, I'm sure that if you make the drive all the way down the rest of us can cover for you if you want to go. Don't worry about that.

This.

Doesn't sound like it'll be too expensive an outing!

Lathum 02-07-2014 06:00 PM

I'll buy him a beer!

Warhammer 02-07-2014 10:29 PM

Yeah, moved here for the job. Sales reorganization, last in, first out.

That said, the severance was decent and I have a number of good job leads. Have a phone interview next week for a good opportunity.

So, even though the situation isn't great, its better to happen here than in Memphis due to the amount of opportunities out there.

PilotMan 02-09-2014 04:05 PM

Gigantic QB Jared Lorenzen Hurts Ankle, Is Carried Off By Four People

Alright, he was probably the main reason to go to the game. I mean how many times do you get to see that? So who knows if he would be healthy for the game on the 15th?

Does this change anybody's opinion on whether or not go to this game? I mentioned a couple of other days in April, but 1 would be over spring break.

For me, I'm still fine with it. It's pretty harmless, cheap and a good reason for a meetup. Let me know.

BillJasper 02-09-2014 04:56 PM

I'm still up to go to a game.

cougarfreak 02-09-2014 05:55 PM

Lorenzen broke his leg, he definitely won't be back anytime soon.

PilotMan 02-18-2014 11:27 AM

Ok so here's the skinny, I'm making this official as of right now.

I got my schedule for March and I'm free on the 15th to go the game.

Schedule

Indoor football, at the Bank of Kentucky center in Northern Kentucky. The game is at 730p. We can pregame and/or post game at BW3 nearby or somewhere else if anyone has objections. Tickets are $10. I think they will have plenty.

So this seems to me to be the first actual meet-up in this area aside from getting to meet BillJasper last weekend at the comedy club. It'll be nice to get out and get together after all these years. Let's have some fun.

Who's in?

BillJasper 02-18-2014 11:29 AM

I'm in.

Lathum 02-18-2014 12:05 PM

I'm going to try. We are leaving for London / France the following weekend so a long as my wife is cool with it.

PilotMan 02-23-2014 09:38 AM

bump to the front

Lathum 02-26-2014 10:00 PM

I'm in.

PilotMan 02-27-2014 09:43 PM

Sweet. Who else is in? We are up to a whopping 3 now.

clemsonfan 02-28-2014 05:13 AM

Butter_of_69 and I might be in. Depending on the date.

Actually I was just over there, and it's not BW's anymore, it's called Dunkers sports bar. It'll do just fine though.

cougarfreak 02-28-2014 07:30 AM

I'm going to try, but I've got a new Rank I class starting next week. I'll see when the saturday dates are for that.

PilotMan 03-05-2014 06:48 PM

bump to the front. It's a week from Saturday.

PilotMan 03-10-2014 10:33 AM

Coming up on Saturday and so far we have 3 for sure with 3 maybes.

Just to reiterate. The game is supposed to be at 730p at the Bank of Kentucky Center.

Tickets for the game are $10. Parking is free.

Plan to meet starting at 630p or so at Dunker's Sports Bar @ 42 Martha Layne Collins Blvd, Cold Spring, Kentucky 41076.

Unfortunately, life has gotten in the way and I'm not going to be able to make it. :(

Sorry to derail, but I've been to Florence to visit a manufacturing plant for a German-based company that's located there. We drove by the water tower and got a chuckle. The plant rep that was driving us lamented how many times he had to try to explain that water tower to Germans in to visit the place.

Well shoot, I was coming to post something similar. Looks like this fell apart on us.

We have to do it some time for sure.

PilotMan 03-11-2014 11:20 AM

Well it was an idea anyway. We have the Reds or Florence Freedom baseball coming up soon for any other ideas. No rush, life has a way of just getting in the way. I'm still up for a beer anytime if anyone is in the area or I'm in theirs. I've already had the pleasure of meeting a number of guys.

PilotMan 03-11-2014 11:22 AM

I still want to have a big party sometime to celebrate my new job. Last year's plans fell through too. Besides my kind of job is much better to celebrate after a year than right after getting hired anyway.

Warhammer 03-11-2014 12:16 PM

This weekend is bad for me, my wife threw together a trip to Champaign to visit my best friend this weekend. I would love to get together with everyone. Hopefully, it will be to celebrate PilotMan's 1 year anniversary and me getting a new job.
