So instead of being Darius Rucker's doppelganger, he is now Al Roker's?

Seriously impressive. Will all bans now be followed with a butt-kicking?

grats Ben!

Wow that's awesome Ben!

Wow, Ben, congrats. You have lost so much weight, you no longer need the "E." in your name.
I think when you get down to a certain weight, you should switch back to SkyDog and bring down mass destruction. |
Nice!

Seriously impressive!

Since retiring from the Air Force I have krept up from 175 to 190....
Looks like I need to take some notes and get back on track. Motivation, Ben, congrats! Awesome job. |
Congrats dude! Great effort.
|
Very well done. I wish I had that type of willpower.
|
Way to go, Ben!

Was just at aol's homepage and they have a "revolving" story ticker... and Ben's picture just popped up. "Simple technique helped him shed 85 pounds. At 280lbs, Ben could hardly get through one straight minute on the treadmill. Now he's running half-marathons--and looks about 20 years younger!"
|
Congrats Ben! I checked out the blog, and it looks like your weight loss has almost exactly mirrored my dad's this year - he's dropped 2-3 pounds per week quite consistently and is also down to around 190 now. I haven't gotten to see him since January, so it will be jarring to see that much of a difference in person. It was good to read your blog in the meantime as a reminder that you don't drop 70+ pounds all at once -- it's the product of lots of repeated good decisions.

Congrats, Ben! That's awesome. :)

Ha! I've been busy the last few days and completely missed this thread. Thanks for the kind words. I had no idea how widespread Everyday Health's reach is. The funny thing is that they published the article several days ago, but whatever hype machine they use didn't get rolling until yesterday, evidently. I got reports that it was on Yahoo's front page at one point, and now Thomkal's about AOL. Gracious!
The funny thing is that I don't feel like I've worked all *that* hard at it. I read about the runs that some of the other guys here are doing and how they're pushing themselves, and I get a little sheepish because I'm not going as hard. But hey, it's working. Anyway, thanks again. I'm not where I want to be yet, but I think I'm close. Maybe 10-15 more pounds to go, then maintenance. I don't have a specific goal weight. I'd like to get the waistline down around 33 or so, but I'm not even certain about that. It's just basically "whenever there's no more pooch down there." That said, of course part of me wants to make it "officially" 100 pounds. :D To some degree I don't have a ton of control over the next 2 1/2 months of weight loss, assuming I stick with the half marathon training plan. My suspicion is that whatever I weigh on October 21st (day after the HM) will be the bottom, and perhaps I'll try to add a bit of muscle after that. |
Ditto on the congrats Ben.
|
Congrats Ben!
That reminds me of myself 3 or so years ago when I lost 70 lbs. Unfortunately I wasn't able to stay dedicated and had gained a lot of it back. I have been back at it again for a month and am on my way back to a healthy weight and lifestyle once again. Seeing this only inspires me more. |
Almost back to his playing weight!
