The 2013 FF "Rate My Team" Thread
Since drafts are beginning to go down, it might as well be time to throw this up.
|
One of my drafts was last night. Here are the results (for me).
#1 pick overall; 12-team league QB: Matt Ryan (5th round) RB: Adrian Peterson (1st) RB: Reggie Bush (4th) WR: Julio Jones (2nd) WR: Denaryius Thomas (3rd) WR: TY Hilton (8th) TE: Greg Olsen (6th) K: Lawrence Tynes (14th) DEF: Pittsburgh (9th) BN: Montee Ball (7th), Mark Ingram (10th), Josh Gordon (11th), Aaron Dobson (12th), Bernard Pierce (13th), Jermaine Gresham (15th) My real regret is not getting Vernon Davis, who I think is going to be an absolute beast this year. I probably could have held off on a QB, but I felt there was a big dropoff from Ryan (and Tom Brady, who went two picks later) at that point. I don't know if this is new, but Yahoo has draft grades this year. That's pretty cool. |
Hey Comey-
Really solid team and I wouldn't worry about the TE position as Olson is serviceable and you're pretty stacked. Assuming Ball wins the job in Denver he may start for you over Bush UNLESS this is PPR and then Bush is your man. I'm quite impressed and figure that you'll definitely make the playoffs assuming 4 make it and most likely make it if even just 2 make it. Well done! |
Hey guys, I'll post mine too. Standard scoring but 4 points for a QB throwing a TD. I picked out of the #2 spot in a 12 team, NON-PPR league. I made one waiver-wire move, dropping Darius Heyward-Bey for Zack Sudfeld. We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex (WR/RB only), 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF.
Team name: Fostering Patriotism (I'm a Steelers fan so this REALLY pains me to have so many Patriots) QB- Brady (5th round), Cutler (10th) RB- Foster (1st), Ridley (2nd), S. Jackson (3rd), Ingram (11th) WR- Cruz (4th), Bowe (6th), Brown (7th) TE- Daniels (8th), Gronkowski (9th), Sudfeld (Heyward-Bey was 15th) K- Bullock (14th) DEF- Houston (12th), Pittsburgh (13th) |

Danke. The Yahoo analysis has my team finishing second. I'll take that. |
10 team, .5PPR league, 5pt TD pass
QB Matthew Stafford RB Trent Richardson RB Matt Forte WR Julio Jones WR Danny Amendola WR Cecil Shorts FL Darren McFadden TE Jermichael Finley BN Ronnie Hillman BN Shane Vereen BN Steve Johnson BN Michael Floyd BN Chris Givens Overall I'm pretty "eh" about this team I drafted last night. |
QB Newton
RB Spiller RB Bush WR Bowe WR Hilton Flex D. Richardson TE Graham BN Vereen BN F. Jackson BN Dwyer BN Reece BN E. Sanders BN Britt BN Blackmon Splurged on Graham early...put me into a slight tailspin. 12 team league, picked 7th. |

Impossible to rate a team without scoring, roster and league size info. Yiur team sucks in 4 team league, but looks realy good in 16 team league
|
I will say however that not big on the way you picked your d players. Should move Burnett to db and pick up a good lb for your other d position
|
Quote:
I think Stafford has a bit of a bounce back but not quite what he was two years ago, somewhere between the two. Running back has a lot of risk-reward here. Trent Richardson is a stud and I think Forte should be big under Tresman's system. DMC is really tough to own and I went in this year trying to avoid him at any cost because of injuries. However, I like your two back-ups of Hillman and Vereen. I'm a fan of Hillman and think he has the talent to hold the job but we'll see. I think you're strong at WR in Jones and Amendola. I think Floyd could be a very positive surprise and may be a bigger player for you than Cecil Shorts. Finley is in a contract year and needs a big year. I owned him last year and he was infuriating but if he and Rodgers can get past their crap, he should be strong. I would say you probably have a team that'll go 7-7 or 8-6 and hopefully slide into the playoffs. |
Quote:
You have two guys on your bench that could be brilliant picks: Dwyer and Blackmon (once he gets back). If one or both of them pan out then your team is in fabulous shape. I'm still old-school when it comes to the running back position and I think you have good running backs and depth. CJ Spiller should be great but I love that you handcuffed him. The only place I feel that you may struggle is receiver but if Hilton keeps looking good he's going to get as many, if not more, targets as last year. I know that Heyward-Bey is ahead of him on the depth chart but Hilton's looked good. I'm a Bowe owner (not someone I've targeted) but I think that with Smith-Reid he could actually put up a pretty nice year but he's not a WR1. I think you are strong early, particularly as Richardson holds the starting job. IF that slips to Pead then the rest of the season could be tough but I have you around 8-6 with a 3-1 start and then probably .500 the rest of the way. Newton's going to be the key. If he puts it together for a big year or even a nice run in the middle of the season I think you could steal another win or two. |

Forgot to add Deandre Hopkins and Ben Tate I went with the DB's as my players because special teams and tackles are pretty valuable. Sacks moreso, but by the time I got around to wanting a LB, no one was really that attractive. 10 teams, I picked 8th. Morris was my first, Megatron was my second. |
1st overall pick, 12 team league, standard scoring
QB Tom Brady (3rd) RB Adrian peterson (1st) RB Montee Ball (4th) WR Brandon marshall (2nd) WR Cecil Shorts (6th) TE Jermichael Finley (12th) Flex Eddie Lacy (5th) D Patriots D (13th) K Garret Hartley (14th) BN DeSean Jackson (7th) BN Mike Williams (8th) BN Mark Ingram (9th) BN Matt Schaub (10th) BN Kendall Wright (11th) Took Lacy too early, as I had him in my queue but let time expire when I was mentally debating between reggie wayne and whoever for the 5th rounder. |
10 team keeper league. Standard scoring, 0.5 PPR.
QB Peyton Manning RB Alfred Morris RB Maurice Jones-Drew WR Roddy White WR Cecil Shorts TE Jason Whitten R/W/T Darren McFadden K Garrett Hartley D Baltimore Bench: QB Kaepernick RB Hillman RB Woodhead WR Decker WR Hilton WR Thompkins D New York Giants We only have 10 adds all year, so I picked up a defense to cover the bye week. I figure dusting two adds for Kicker and TE when the time comes isn't a big deal. I waffled back and forth on my last pick between Woodhead and Helu as a handcuff for Morris, but in the end went with Woodhead because I think he could actually be valuable this season. Edit to add: been trying my ass off to trade one of my QB's all offseason but no luck so far. The two teams in the league that didn't keep anyone got Russell Wilson and Matthew Stafford, so I'm not sure I even have a trading partner who'd be up for anything. |
Thompkins and Hilton are good gets. They could both be top fantasy receivers in a year or two if they continue to play like they have. Other than that, I worry about your RB situation. McFadden feels like a lost cause to me. Maybe you can flip him for a young up and coming back like a Gio Bernard? I wouldn't take that deal, but maybe you can get lucky. :)

I'd be more worried about Montee Ball in the 4th. Finley in round 12 might pay off nicely, there have been a lot of good things said about him this year, but then it seems like that happens every year. DeSean Jackson might be a bit of a steal in that new offense. Since it is standard scoring though, I think the only misstep taken was picking Ball in round 4. Reggie Wayne would have been a great pick in the 5th. Also, not quite getting all the love for Cecil Shorts. Isn't Gabbert the starter in Jacksonville? If so, Shorts will be lucky to crack 500 yards. |
Standard scoring (4pts for throwing TD), 12 team league. I picked first which I hate, but AP might actually be worth it this year
QB Kaepernick (4th) RB Peterson (1st) RB C.Johnson (2nd) WR A.Johnson (3rd) WR D.Bowe (6th) Flex A.Bradshaw (5th) TE O.Daniels (8th) K G.Zuerlein (13th) DEF New England (12th) BN C.Shorts (7th) BN L.Bell (9th) BN J.Blackmon (10th) BN B.Roethlisberger (11th) BN K.Wright(14th) Hate the Bowe pick, but he was the only WR within 20-30 ADP when I picked and I needed a second receiver bad. Wouldn't be surprised to see Blackmon or Shorts outperform him. I was really hoping for Jared Cook or Jordan Cameron to fall to me at TE but Daniels is projected to do better than either so no big loss. Very weak at WR (2 Jags guys?! and Bowe as #2) but Yahoo seems to think it's the strongest team on paper in the league. |
Quote:
Considering he basically got 1000 yards and 7 TD's last season and the Jags QB situation probably won't be worse, don't think it's a huge stretch that he's a solid mid-round pick |
10 team league, standard scoring, 5th pick
QB Tony Romo RB Ray Rice RB Jamaal Charles WR AJ Green WR Reggie Wayne TE Jason Witten RB/WR Giovanni Bernard Bears Defense K Matt Bryant WR Torrey Smith QB Michael Vick TE Kyle Rudolph TE Martellus Bennett QB Jay Cutler I'll be picking up another RB soon |
Why did you pick 3 TEs?
|
Goal line formation, ever heard of it?

Quote:
I was pretty drunk by the end of the draft. |
My league has pretty straight forward rules for TDs.
7 points for a TD run, reception, thrown, and the same for any Defensive TD. No Points per Reception. The format is 8 teams in a draft. That means that QBs are valued a bit higher here than a typical league. I've got two teams using this format one a traditional league and one a keeper with an auction. Two teams withdrew at the last moment from the keeper league, whcih usually has 10 teams in it. As a result, it took some time to adjust to valuing the players appropriately. So there was overpayment early and great value at the end. Here is my traditional team QB Ryan Cutler RB Martin Forte MJD Montee Ball WR Marshall V Jackson Jordy Nelson Miles Austin TE Fred Davis Cameron in the keeper QB Ryan Luck M.Stafford RB Martin D.Williams D.Wilson NYG MJD J. Rodgers ATL(I kept him for $1 before the league went to 8 teams) WR D. Thomas Den Roddy White Mike Williams Jordy Nelson Anquan Boldin TE Vernon Davis G Olsen |

1.9 Calvin Johnson 2.2 Matt Forte 3.9 Randall Cobb 4.2 Andre Johnson 5.9 Eddie Lacy 6.2 Danny Amendola - Keeper 7.9 Tony Romo 8.2 Alfred Morris - Keeper 9.9 Jared Cook 10.2 Andre Brown 11.9 Bryce Brown 12.2 Roy Helu 13.9 Cordarrelle Patterson I have 3 picks left. I'm thinking Alshon Jeffery or DeAndre Hopkins, maybe Markus Wheaton with 14.2 then going DEF and K with 15.9 and 16.2. |
I like the Hopkins pick, but what do I know.
|
Here is my team, I had the #4 pick, snake draft, standard scoring, 12 team league... you had to draft 1 bench player for all positions.
QB Russell Wilson (5th) B-QB Eli Manning (6th) RB Marshawn Lynch (1st) RB Montee Ball (4th) B-RB Ben Tate (9th) WR AJ Green (2nd) WR Julio Jones (3rd) B-WR Miles Austin (14th) TE Greg Olsen (7th) B-TE Fred Davis (11th) K Stephen Gostkowski (10th - 1st K off board) B-K Greg Zuerlein (13th) DEF Cincinnati Bengals (8th - 6th DEF off board) B-DEF Arizona Cardinals (12th) |
3-keeper 14 team 0.5 PPR league start 1QB 2RB 3WR, 1 TE, 1K, 1 DEF. Fractional scoring, 6 points All touchdowns, 1 point per 50 yrds passing, 1 point per 20 yrds receiving/rushing, -2 points per interception/fumble lost
QB: Philip Rivers (10.09), Ryan Tannehill (12.09) RB: C.J. Spiller (Keeper), Darren Sproles (4.09), Chris Ivory (6.09), Vick Ballard (7.06), Knowshon Moreno (11.06), Bilal Powell (14.09) WR: Calvin Johnson (Keeper), Larry Fitzgerald (Keeper), Kenny Britt (8.09), Justin Blackmon (9.06) TE: Rob Gronkowski (5.06) K: none currently DEF: Indianapolis Colts (15.06) - week 1 matchup home vs. Raiders Not overly thrilled with how my draft went. One owner took Andrew Luck in the 5th round despite already having Tom Brady. That started a chain reaction where all the mid level QBs such as Kaepernick and Wilson were gone by the time it was my pick again in the 6th round. Rather then take a guy like Vick or Dalton, I decided to wait a long time to finally take a QB. |
QB - Matt Ryan
RB - Ray Rice RB - Stevan Ridley WR - Brandon Marshall WR - Torrey Smith TE - Brandon Myers W/R/T - Daryl Richardson BN - Michael Bush BN - Anquan Boldin BN - Rashard Mendenhall BN - Kenbrell Thompkins BN - Jacquizz Rodgers BN - Jermaine Gresham BN - Roy Helu K- Shaun Suisham DEF - Arizona I just don't know. It seems like it'll either be solid or a strikeout. If injuries happen though, I could be in a good spot with my RB's. |
10 team Yahoo league
QB - Kaepernick WR - Julio Jones WR - Randall Cobb RB - Alfred Morris RB - Eddie Lacy Flex - Reggie Bush TE - Gates DEF - Green Bay K - Henery Bench David Wilson -RB Shane Vereen -RB Kenbrell Thompkins -WR Le'Von Bell -RB Zack Sudfeld -TE EJ Manual -QB Ryan Broyles -WR |
Quote:
Just did a similar draft without the keepers. 12 teams, same exact pt structure for the QB. brees/rodg went 1st rd, brady/peyt 2nd, Stafford 3rd, luck/ryan 4th. After those IMO theres dropoff, so choose to stockpile RB and WR. Capernick, Romo and Wilson went 6th round, ppl started taking BACKUP QBs in the 7th. There are a few teams that took 3 QBs. .......and I never drafted a QB. Will grab off the waiver wire before week one with no regrets. |
12 team league, custom scoring but not odd, one flex slot, no kicker, no PPR
Picking at #1 overall, so the whole draft is in pairs. I'll add my narrative because I can't help myself: 1.1 RB Adrian Peterson, MIN Duh. 2.12 RB Eddie Lacy, GB 3.01 TE Jimmy Graham, NO The plan was to take the best WR available here along with Lacy, but Graham falling here lured me off the path. I like Graham, but then predictably felt like I was forcing myself to pick at the WR position in my next pairings, and doing what I hate -- just taking "one of the top several, interchangeable guys at the position." 3.12 WR Victor Cruz, NYG 4.01 RB Darren McFadden, OAK Okay, I think DMC is a big value here, so that's good, I suppose - especially in a league where the flex allows a third RB starter. My desperation at WR is showing, though - I like Cruz ok here for value, but only missed out on Andre Johnson by a few slots and would have loved that instead. Anyway, only one WR rostered, still no QB, and now I know it's going to thin out. Also, I was starting to think QB for this corner, but in the 4 picks before me we saw Stafford, Luck, and Newton all go -- and I abandoned that plan, basically settling for QB#12 eventually. 6.12 WR Hakeem Nicks, NYG 7.01 QB Robert Griffin III, WAS No, the Giants receiver was not a deliberate play, just the best value left there, I felt. Just missed on Amendola, whom I liked better. Romo and Wilson went off the board, so RG3 was indeed QB12 and while I might have waited another cycle to take him, I wasn't so in love with anyone here to take the risk of seeing the QB backup landslide wipe me out. 8.12 WR Miles Austin 9.01 QB Michael Vick So, basically BPA receiver (I like the value here) and wiseguy upside play (for a team with a still-hobbled starting QB, getting QB#13 seemed to make sense here also). Happy with this pairing, but once again just missed out on another guy I liked better (WR TY Hilton). 10.12 WR Justin Blackmon, JAX 11.01 DF Rams, STL Just value and need here, I figure WR is deep enough to ride out a suspension on a guy I think becomes a true go-to wideout this year (I think Blackmon is a great value play this season). Rams were just my top-rated D at the time, amidst a mini-run. I had them in my top 6 to begin with, so I'm comfy there. 12.12 RB Toby Gerhardt, MIN 13.01 Joique Bell, DET 14.12 Daniel Thomas, MIA 15.01 QB EJ Manuel, BUF Nothing here that isn't obvious, just vulturing for opportunities and depth. I really like Bell this year for this purpose, by the way. So, overall: QB RG3, M Vick, EJ Manuel RB Peterson, Lacy, McFadden and handcuffs/vultures WR Cruz and Nicks, M Austin, J Blackmon TE J Graham DF Rams The Giants offense has not shined of late, but if they get on track, they look like a feed-the-wideouts approach this year, so I think I'm on the right side of things there. If the receivers are adequate, then the big thing is whether my QB is good enough to keep the team competitive. Both guys are big upside plays, so it's high risk... but I think I could end up out of the basement at total QB points. If so, I like my chances to do well. |
Not sure how I feel about my team. I thought I did ok but yahoo predicts ill go 7-7 in a 10 team league. Standard scoring. qb'4 4 pts for touchdowns non ppr league and no flex. We Start an extra WR for the flex spot.
QB- Romo RB- Lynch RB- Jones Drew WR- Roddy White WR- Jordy Nelson WR- Pierre Garcon TE- Fred Jackson K- David Akers Def- Green Bay Bench Wr- Desean Jackson Wr- Antonio Brown RB- Eddie Lacy RB- Ryan Matthews TE- Zach Sudfeld WR- Santonio Holmes I need to cut holmes and have a waiver claim in justin blackmon who was just cut today but was shocked that yahoo thought I would be that bad. |
Where does Yahoo give predictions?
|
Quote:
I like your team despite the WR-from-behind approach that getting Graham left you. I worry about the two NY WR's - if you get Bad Eli for any stretches of the year, you're in trouble. And Austin, though talented, is completely unpredictable - he's going to get to 900 yards and 8 TDs, but it's going to be like this: 125 - 2 100 - 1 25 - 0 42 - 0 160 - 1 etc. |
Quote:
go to your league. Hit standings. Then the drop down where standings is should have different options. selection draft day predictions and it should give you what your predicted record should be along with pts for and against. |
Just finished my draft. League doesn't give points for PPR and you have to start a WR in the flex spot. It is a 12 team league with ESPN standard scoring with the following exceptions:
All TDs are worth 6 points, including passing TDs. Five bonus Points for 300+ yards passing, 100+ yards receiving, and 100+ yards rushing. Three bonus points for TD plays of 50+ yards. For a pass the QB + Receiver get the points. For a rushing TD the ball carrier gets the points. FGs are worth 3/4/5 depending on the length 1-39/40-49/50+ Defensive scores are kinda crappy. Defenses can't go into the negatives and they default to 0 after allowing 300+ yards and 18+ points. After that they are just on the standard scoring for sacks, ints, etc. Defenses lose points at 100/200/300 yards and 7/14/18 points. You aren't allowed a ton of roster freedom as far as positions go. Unlimited in season adding/dropping is allowed, but you must carry the set roster size I drafted including 2 kickers and 2 defenses. This means 24 kickers and defenses are on a roster all year and makes dumpster diving for kickers and defenses less appealing. It also means only 48 RBs are on a roster. Here is my team: QB Colin Kaepernick QB Andy Dalton RB Doug Martin RB Matt Forte RB Shane Vereen RB Bernard Pierce WR Roddy White WR Reggie Wayne WR Dwayne Bowe WR Greg Jennings WR Michael Floyd TE Jermichael Finley TE Coby Fleener PK Stephen Gostkowski PK Robbie Gould DE Baltimore Ravens DE Cleveland Browns Quite a bit of money on the line in this league. |
1. (10) Marshawn Lynch (Sea - RB)
2. (11) Alfred Morris (Was - RB) 3. (30) Roddy White (Atl - WR) 4. (31) Victor Cruz (NYG - WR) 5. (50) Matt Ryan (Atl - QB) 6. (51) Reggie Wayne (Ind - WR) 7. (70) Ahmad Bradshaw (Ind - RB) 8. (71) Eric Decker (Den - WR) 9. (90) Houston (Hou - DEF) 10. (91) Antonio Gates (SD - TE) 11. (110) Fred Jackson (Buf - RB) 12. (111) Andy Dalton (Cin - QB) 13. (130) Justin Tucker (Bal - K) 14. (131) Jordan Cameron (Cle - TE) 15. (150) Malcom Floyd (SD - WR) 16. (151) Daniel Thomas (Mia - RB) Pretty standard 10-team league, with standard scoring. I think I did pretty good, but you never know who is gonna have a career year... |
QB - Tom Brady

I had the last pick in the first round. (Wound up going Forte/Brees at 12 & 13) Not...horrid. |
Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR/TE, D, K -- all tds worth 6, standard scoring otherwise
My team...round picked in parentheses...picked 12th QB -- Kaepernick (6), Bradford (11) RB -- Forte (1), Lacy (3), Ivory (5), Green-Ellis (8), M. Bush (17) WR -- Johnson (2), White (4), Boldin (7), E. Sanders (9), Hopkins (10), Wright (14) D -- Packers (12), Titans (15) K -- Hauschka (13), Crosby (6) We have a 17th round which is for any player you want after all regular slots are taken. Bush was still there so took him to handcuff Forte. |
10-team Yahoo league, 1 PPR, 6 pt Passing TDs:
QB RG3 RB Jamaal Charles RB Reggie Bush WR AJ Green WR Andre Johnson RB/WR Eddie Lacy TE Jordan Cameron K Randy Bullock D New England RB Darren McFadden RB Ryan Mathews RB Joique Bell WR Cecil Shorts WR Kenbrell Thompkins TE Zach Sudfeld I overloaded at RB, but I couldn't leave Mathews on the table in the 9th round. The only thing I'm really worried about is the health of my team - almost all of my guys are injury prone, coming off major injuries or are already injured. Otherwise, very pleased with the results. |

Andre Johnson -- so frustrating to have. |
I like that team a lot, Vince.

The guy in our office who drafted Matt Ryan in the first round is getting endless flak from us this morning.

I had a guy quit my office league because of the ribbing we gave him after picking Seattle's defense in the 8th round. He's finished last 2 years in a row. |
