windows keeps d'loading update after update was succesful?

Vista home premium 64 bit

Got a windows update icon this a.m. and let windows run it. Updates were
MS Office suite 2007 (kb2760411)
MS office suite 2007 (kb2760588)

Got message update successful.

Little later icon back on bottom of screen saying MS update available. It's the same two updates. Thought maybe didn't really take so let it run. Again "update successful".

Little later icon back again, wtf? Tried shutdown restart. Looked at update log which shows the update was successful both times. So it is in the log twice.

Ok, figured the shutdown\restart was what was needed. Not. After two "successful" updates the icon again is in the tray with the same two updates listed as being needed.

FWIW I don't use MS Office but I do let all "important" updated process figuring it keeps my OS totally updated and avoids any future potential conflicts.

Just not sure what to make of this. My inclination is there isn't any real problem other than knowing the icon is there and shouldn't be. Mildly irritating to someone that likes things to be "right".

Just throwing this out there looking for input as I've never had this happen before.

Thanks..

A quick google search of the patches and it looks like a pretty common issue that M$ may or may not be investigating.

Me as well. I have read some posts about it. M$ is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it. As the updates appear to have installed correctly, I just chose to hide them so I don't get annoyed.
