I normally wouldn't do this, but this just utterly disgusted me. I just got the following PM.
Quote:

Could you please stop trying to make us share with you your overly-conscious patriotic feelings every single day ?

I understand patriotism to some extent, but I don't understand this.
This is too much for a Football board. Been a lurker here (as a guest) for sometimes and I suddenly see that thread pop up with "prayers" "sacrifices" spelled all over.

Please could you go write this someplace else. It has nothing to deal with Football and makes me sick in the first place.
OK. I wasn't really taken aback by this too much until I did a little research? Anyone want to take ONE guess at who has a perfect IP match for this PM???

Marmel 05-07-2003 12:10 PM

Ksyrup 05-07-2003 01:10 PM

Well, liberals tend to put emotion before logic, and I guess he was SO traumatized by reading that message that his emotions just overcame him.

"Well, liberals tend to put emotion before logic, and I guess he was SO traumatized by reading that message that his emotions just overcame him."

In keeping with the idea behind the title, my only response will be:

Nice generalization there SD. Guess that just proves conservatives are all unfeeling, cold bastards right?

sabotai 05-07-2003 05:48 PM

"Nice generalization there SD. Guess that just proves conservatives are all unfeeling, cold bastards right?"

No, it just proves that they can't think outside the bounds of overly simplistic generalizations.

tucker342 05-07-2003 06:06 PM

Who was it?

I heart Sabotai.

Based on SD's hint, I'll go with Darkiller.

Ben E Lou 05-07-2003 07:28 PM

...and kcchief wins the prize.

"think outside the bounds...."

Hmmmm....ironic that he is trying to make the generalization that I can't think outside the bounds of overly simplistic generalizations by using a sample size of one...

See, that's the whole problem with generalizations - they are bound to ruffle the feathers of those unfairly tarred.

For example, I could say that Asians are bad drivers (and I do observe a lot of bad drivers that are Asian), but for the many Asians that aren't bad drivers my statement would be offensive. They would rightfully point out that there are bad drivers in every racial category.

I think you're fairly open-minded SD, but you have to expect that when you make a generalization based on politics that you're going to be called on it by those that don't agree with your statement.

lynchjm24 05-07-2003 08:06 PM

Fritz?

sabotai 05-07-2003 08:13 PM

It's a generalization when I am making a statement about one person? Sounds like I'm making a specificization. :D

Kodos 05-07-2003 10:55 PM

SD: You do tend to take jabs at Democrats about as often as I jab at the Cowboys - you seem especially inclined to stab at people who crushed George Bush in Presidential elections... :D

cartman 05-08-2003 06:05 AM

I was going to guess Dave Dial.
