Game of Thrones for those who have not read the books and don't know character names
Who is the guy who has Bron/Bran/the crippled Stark? :)
|
Hodor- he is the starks stable boy. I think thats what you wanted to know
|
and it is Bran- Bron is Tyrions sellsword.
Tyrion is the Imp This could get lengthy |
are you talking about the guy that just captured Bran?
or the one that is traveling with him..? |
:)
This has spoilers for season's 1-3 fyi. |
Quote:
The guy that captured Bran. |
Quote:
I know Tyrion, although I do have moments of doubt because there is a Tywin too... Right? His father? |
Quote:
Correct! Tywin is the patriarch of the Lannisters, including Cersei (queen regent) and Jaime. |
I knew that too. I'm awesome! Although I must admit that it was not only recently that I cemented my favorite character's name (Arya).
|
Quote:
I have to admit I did read the books.... The guy that captured Bran is a "new" character. He's one of the Nights Watch that mutineed at Crasters Keep and killed the head of the Nights Watch... This is a brand new plotline.... Wasn't in the books. I'll be as surprised as you guys to see how it resolves itself.... |
I just read an article that said the leader of the mutineers is named "Karl"
|
So the mustached guy killed Joffrey as revenge for the death of Ned Stark's wife, who he has always loved?
|
Quote:
Littlefinger isn't ever that simple. There were many players in Joffrey's death. And if you listened to Lysa's conversation with Littlefinger, you'll see it goes much, much further back than that as well. |
Why do we now have a 3rd GoT topic?
|
Am I the only one who doesn't like Emilia Clarke as a blonde? I know it's necessary, but still...
|
Quote:
Yes. edit: That's not to say she looks better as a blonde. And to be fair, it's more silver than blonde. |
|
They really should have have a Broadway Show Playbill style note about the recasting of the Daario character. It took me 5 episodes and a web search to realize he is supposed to be the same character as the blond guy from last season.

I remember the ugly queen from a few seasons ago but not much of the backstory. I figured they are probably lying to the redheaded Stark girl but now I'm thinking that she might actually be her aunt but definitely has some other intentions. Any info on this storyline? Also agree with cthomer I would have never known that was the blonde haired guy and now the Dnerys scenes make a lot more sense. |
Quote:
I think she is the hottest cast member. What has she been in as a brunette? I see her pictures on google image search but don't recognize her from anything and don't think she is as hot as with blonde hair. |
Quote:
Yeah I used to call him Triple H. Now he's like my uncle who I get to help me work on my lawnmower. |
Quote:
The ugly queen is Sansa's mother's (Cat's, killed in the Red Wedding) sister. Cat took the dwarf guy here in the first season when she arrested him. She was married to John Arryn, who was the hand of the king before Ned. He was poisoned and the ugly queen sent a letter to Cat telling her that the Lannisters did it. This is what caused Ned to leave Winterfell for King's Landing. |
I wish they used maps on the screen more often. Like how close are Arya and the Hound to their goal. I shouldn't have to look it up online.
|
Quote:
Thanks for the info! I do remember that now. Are we supposed to understand what she has in store for Sansa yet? Didn't know if I just missed it (since I really didn't remember any of the backstory I didn't understand most of what was going on!) or if it hasn't happened yet. |

To your point has anyone found a good site for the typical member of this thread? (no books, don't know character names) I know there are a lot of links posted, including that character list a few up, but I find there almost always is a spoiler. (haven't clicked on list yet since I wasn't sure) I don't even bother typing character names into google anymore because it always attempts to complete my thoughts with a major spoiler... I would guess HBO would be spoiler free anywhere better? |
There is a game of thrones TV Wiki that's decent and spoiler free. The book related wiki's are awful though if you don't want sledgehammer'd with spoilers.
|

I haven't seen it yet, so I don't feel comfortable speaking to this. Sorry! Quote:
http://quartermaester.info This is a map that lets you see where characters are/have gone, and you can limit your scope to the episodes you have seen. Obviously, avoid going by chapters and instead do episodes. Unfortunately you will have to know the names of the characters you are interested in. |
Quote:
That site isn't 100% since it's showing Littlefinger only in King's Landing. |
Yes it only goes up to 4.3 and only includes things we have seen as far as I can tell. We know LF wasn't in KL, but we never saw him anywhere, right?
And oddly does include two characters we haven't been introduced to yet but doesn't give anything about them away. |
Quote:
Near the end of this last episode she grabbed Sansa's hands (firmly to the point of discomfort) & started questioning Sansa on whether Littlefinger had tried to sleep with her (or if he did). Later in that scene she tells Sansa that her plans are to eventually have Sansa marry her son (more incest yay!) and that having Tyrion (the imp) out of the way will help that along (presuming Tyrion is executed for killing that little bastard king). |
I'm going to ask again, why do we have a third GoT thread? Can't we keep this talk in the TV show thread? So I don't have to follow them both now...
|
Quote:
I thought there was a bunch of bickering about what was a spoiler and what wasn't so this thread was the compromise that nobody on here has read the books or if they have they weren't going to comment anything more than what has been seen on the HBO show. The tv thread was welcome then to talk about comparisons to the books. |
Quote:
Interesting on your perspective. She said a couple things that were far, far more interesting in this episode, and I am surprised you mentioned the Sansa comments and not those. But, then, maybe you're sticking with the "plans for Sansa" angle of the post you were responding to. |
Quote:
OK. So she was talking about her marrying that weird kid? And outside of that likely doesn't intend to whore her out or kill her or anything? I thought that was the case but some of these characters come out of nowhere. (Or in the case of the red headed devil lady disappear for 2-3 episodes and you lose track of their plotline.) I wonder if the book is as hard as the show to keep up with? |
The show requires some effort to follow. It's not going to get any easier.
|
Quote:
Thank you! That is awesome and exactly what I was looking for. I know HBO has the map on the intro and I'm sure the books have the map but while I was close on the proximities of Winterfell, the Wall, and King's landing I could not have been more off on where Daenary's and Stannis Barthatheon are right now. In fact I would have flipped their locations completely. |
Quote:
I agree and it is a good thing. I enjoy the HBO shows like this, the Wire, Rome, and Deadwood where there are 30 different things going on. Especially when you don't like a plotline. (Like Theon's for me) You only get 4-5 minutes instead of half a show. |
Quote:
So... Now we have the original thread which was about the TV show. Then the "Book" thread that someone created because some people thought there were too many spoilers being discussed and they couldn't just ignore them. And now we have the new TV show thread because even more people thought there were still too many spoilers and can't remember characters names? |
Quote:
I thought the book thread always existed? And there were several times that people like me thought things were being spoiled in the HBO thread and it sort of blow up from there. I kind of assumed this was the compromise? |
Quote:
The other part (and I don't think this is spoiling anything since they did say it on the show) really does change the light on the Lannisters though. All this time, we've been going on the premise that they were orchestrating some elaborate plot to take the crown by killing off Lyssa's husband (I think?) who was King Robert's hand (because we presume he was about to find an heir to Robert that didnt have incestuous blonde hair). Now we know this crazy lady is behind it & (obviously) capable of doing bad things to people. What is not so obvious yet (or at least I havent picked up on it) is why Petyr is slumming it with her. Just seems like there's going to be a lot more to this little story than what appears to be playing out (as usual I guess). |
Nevermind... I could have swore there was another new thread made recently for just the people that read the book, but watch the show that was made as a compromise. Too much traveling lately to keep on top of this stuff...

Oh and I thought the possessed (worged?) Hodor scene was kinda cool. I think if I could do that I would abuse that power for sheer amusement.
|
Quote:
There was another thread. You are correct that there are three threads. I think this one is the outlier, the third that was started by the opening poster for some reason, instead of using the original threads (either one). |
I think this thread has more posts talking about why it's a thread than actual discussion on the show
|
I haven't caught up to this season yet (still re-watching last season with my gf who hasn't seen it but just finished the books recently) - so I don't want to comment and give anything away that might not have been covered yet (or might never be covered...)
|
Quote:
Please, move all meta-thread discussion to the fourth thread. |

Incidentally the brother of momma Stark and the guy that got married to the hot daughter are the same person. Edumure Tully (picture) Last we saw of him he was being carried away during the bedding portion of the Red Wedding. We don't know what's happened to him. The other gentleman you might be thinking of is the Blackfish, momma Stark's uncle (picture) Last we saw him he left to urinate during the Red Wedding. We don't know what's happened to him. |
Quote:
He didn't leave to urinate, he left to consummate the marriage. And we do know what happened to him, in the next episode Roose Bolton told Walder Frey that Tully escaped. |
Blackfish was urinating, not consummating. But you're right about Frey/Bolton discussing his escape, though we don't know what's happened to him from there.
