IWS #220 Second Best
The Rules
The rules are the same as previous FOFC “I’m With Stupid" Contests, as set forth by whoever created the game, and probably isn't even on the forum any more.
The object of this contest is to answer the questions posted, and to provide the most common answer among those submitted. For each question, your score will be equal to the number of people who submitted that response. Your score for the contest will be the product of your individual question scores. For the mathematically challenged, product means they are multiplied together, not added. Highest score wins.
Collaboration of any kind is strictly forbidden. No posting your answers to this board, nor sharing them by e-mail or in any other way with other potential contestants. There are no prizes other than everlasting glory, so the need to cheat shouldn't be an issue.
All determinations of "matches" and anything else requiring judgment fall to that of the sole administrator of this round of the game. You can reduce the need for doubt and judgment by properly spelling your submissions, being clear, and that sort of thing. My decisions are final and utterly inarguable, no exceptions.
Any references that are unclear to you, due to language or geography, should be understood to be authored from the perspective of an English-speaking American. However...
Your answers do not necessarily have to be correct in order to score points. If I ask "What is the most influential rock band of all time" and you answer "Nirvana" along with 13 other people, you each will be awarded 14 points -- even though the correct answer is "The Beatles".

Hall of Heroes
Stupids son was tearing it up his senior year in High School track. He had worked hard all year, and was a big favorite to win a state championship in the 400m dash. He was very excited. In the race he had built a sizable lead over the first 300m, and then twisted his ankle. He limped to the finish, and was passed on the homestretch to grab a 2nd place finish. He was devastated, and all he could think about was how "no one remembers who lost". Stupid is tasked with showing him this isn't entirely true, and uses some examples of Teams/Individuals that didn't win - but were remembered.
For each question - list the most memorable 2nd place finisher. (Losers of championship games/series #1-#4) (List team and year for clarity)
1. The NFL
2. MLB
3. The NBA
4. NCAA Football
5. The most memorable season, that didn't reach the championship game.
6. Individual MVP Award (Memorable season robbed of an MVP)
Please PM your answers to me with "IWS #220" in the title. Submissions are due by 3:00 PM Eastern Time on Wednesday June 4th.

I had immediate answers for 5 of the 6 that I feel really good about, so I'm probably completely doomed.

#3 and #6 were the toughest for me. For the others, I had answers which immediately came to mine. This usually means I will do poorly.

Can't wait to bring up the results of this IWS the next time someone's complaining about who should/shouldn't have finished 3rd or 4th on some MVP ballot. It's hard enough remembering who got 2nd :)
