IWS #224 - Back To School, Fool
The Rules
The rules are the same as previous FOFC “I’m With Stupid" Contests, as set forth by the game's, and indeed our very community's, most cherished and beloved progenitors and inspirational leaders. May we never lose our commitment to reverently speak their names and heartily toast their greatness. The object of this contest is to answer the questions posted, and to provide the most common answer among those submitted. For each question, your score will be equal to the number of people who submitted that response. Your score for the contest will be the product of your individual question scores. For the mathematically challenged, product means they are multiplied together, not added. Highest score wins. Collaboration of any kind is strictly forbidden. No posting your answers to this board, nor sharing them by e-mail or in any other way with other potential contestants. There are no prizes other than everlasting glory, so the need to cheat shouldn't be an issue. All determinations of "matches" and anything else requiring even the most trivial degree of judgment fall to that of the sole administrator of this round of the game. You can reduce the need for doubt and judgment by properly spelling your submissions, being clear, and that sort of thing. My decisions are final and utterly inarguable, no exceptions. I summarily reject any suggestion of this structure as evidence of any personal character flaw. Any references that are unclear to you, due to language or geography, should be understood to be authored from the perspective of an English-speaking American. However... Your answers do not necessarily have to be correct in order to score points. If I ask "What's the best breed of dog for Stupid's family to adopt?" and you answer "Weimardoodle" along with 9 other people, you each score 10 points, even though the correct answer is "the most loving mutt you find at the shelter." *************************** Hall of Heroes Yes, I am going to make you fawn and worship the actual un-spoilered Hall this time... Abe Sargent - IWS#49, IWS#149IWS #224 - Back To School So, Stupid is wrapping up the Dog Days of Summer, and moving on toward the autumn. This means for part of Clan Stupid, it's back-to-school time. #1 - Stupid's youngest, his 10 year old daughter, is pretty eager to start fifth grade this fall. What time does the bell ring for her first class? #2 - She will be riding the bus to get to school most days - how long is her bus ride each way? #3 - Stupid's older child is heading to college for the first time. He wasn't able to get in to some of the more aspirational schools he sought, and instead has enrolled at a "safety school" that M&M Stupid approved of. What is his new school mascot? #4 - Stupid's son wasn't totally sure what to study, but his new school requires a truly declared major, nothing "unspecified" or "general studies" available. What is his stated major as he starts his freshman year? #5 - We know it's just a matter of time until Son of Stupid calls/emails/texts to ask for money. The script will sound something like this: "Yeah, I know we talked about books and clothes and stuff, but I didn't realize I'd need so much money for (THIS) -- I need your help, pops." What's the big ticket pitched for Stupid to fund for his freshman son? #6 - Stupid is now feeling a little stupid himself, and also inspired by the progress of Son of Stupid - so he decided to enroll in the local community college for his own educational benefit. He's taking a class that he finds academically interesting, not just career-advancing. What's he taking this fall? = = = = = There you have it. PM your responses to QuikSand on this forum, with something sufficiently clear in the title. I don't like leaving these open forever, so my goal will be to wrap this up Monday afternoon, work schedule permitting. Please help with the "snet" and other suitably amusing response-bumps to help keep the contest in mind. |

You remember why QS tries to win every once in a while. It's the long game- just keep adding to the intro one line at a time SI |
Just bumping for entries, and reminding myself I haven't entered yet...
My last place entry sent.
5 and 6 racheted this up.
We have a solid contingent already (more than 20 entries by my eyeball) but I do hope/plan to wrap this today. Get them in, gang.
Last place entry sent.
Winning entry sent
Bottom 5 as usual
Radii seems to have the record for the biggest gap between IWS victories. I look to claim that title. But I don't think it will be with this one.
I first played #150...won #152. Then #179....Then I'm 0-45
My day got away from me, will try to run this tomorrow morning. If not, it could be a while. Stay tuned...fun drama!
Tabulating...
...looks like yet again I have created an unintended wild ambiguity with one of my questions. Alas, such is life. |
Who is the fool now?
Same as always.

I have discovered an error in the Hall of Heroes! I tied for the win in #211 and was not credited! Travesty! IWS #211 Results - Front Office Football Central That means I won #8 and then not again until #211. :( (In my defense, I only played a dozen or 2 times) |
Okay, I edited that in so the next clown who cuts/pastes will get it. No research here, I'm taking you at your word.
I may not win again until IWS 309, but I like my odds when we get there.

I'll be able to sleep peacefully at night now, so thanks. |
