King's NFL Pick'Em Game 2014: Week 1
The Rules
For those who played in the past, the rules are all the same and are detailed later in this post under the scoring section. Predictions: Predict the final score of 4 games, 3 of your choosing and the Sunday Night game. You can choose any 3 games as long as the game has not started yet. So if it's 3pm EST and you haven't posted your predictions, you can still predict for the late games and Monday night game(s). Double check your posts. If a score is accidentally left blank, I will count as a prediction of 0. If you predict for a game that doesn't exist (put the wrong team names), I will simply discount the prediction and treat it as if you only predicted for 3 games instead of 4 (penalty described below). I do not have time to check every prediction. I'm simply copying and pasting them into a text file to be typed into a spreadsheet later. So make sure you check them! If you forget to predict for the Sunday Night game, and predict for 4 random games, your best prediction for that week will be disqualified. If you feel the need to change something, please create a new post. I know there is a time stamp on edited posts, but generally I just go to the end of the thread every time I check and input predictions. I might end up missing your edits if I already put in your predictions. So if you want to correct something, make sure you make a second post to ensure that I will see it. The best way to do it is to just post your changed score. You don't have to repost the games that are staying the same. If any of your games has started, you can still make changes to a later game's prediction by just doing what I said, just make a new post with just the changes to the later game. Very important: If you edit a post that contains predictions for games that have already started, and I had not entered your previous predictions, all predictions for games that started before the time stamp of the edit will be disqualified. So, and I'm stressing this for a reason, if you want to make changes, create a new post! Scoring: You will receive 1 point for every point you are off by in both scores. So if you predict: Seahawks 31 Broncos 10 And the final is Seahawks 28 Broncos 14 You will get 3 points for the Seahawks score, and 4 for the Broncos score, for a total of 7 points. If you predict the wrong winner, you will get a 10 point penalty. So if you predict: Seahawks 19 Broncos 17 And the final is Seahawks 20 Broncos 24 You will get 1 point for the Seahawks score, 7 points for the Broncos score, and 10 points for predicting the wrong winner, for a total of 18 points If you predict a correct score, you will get a -5 bonus. So if you predict Seahawks 24 Broncos 21 And the final is Seahawks 27 Broncos 21 You get 3 points for the Seahawks score, -5 for guessing the correct score for the Broncos, for a total of -2 points. And, if you should get both scores right, you will get -20 for it. Lowest score wins. Penalties: If you miss a week, you will be given the Average score for the week * 1.5. So, if the averages of everyone's score is 70, and you miss the week, you will be given 105 for the week. So if you miss a week or two, you are not out of the game. Every year that I have done this, everyone has missed a week or two, so don't sweat it if you forget once or twice. Everyone does. This is a marathon, not a sprint. If you have one of your predictions disqualified, you will be given 1/4th of this for each DQed prediction (rounded up). So, if you have one prediction DQed, using the above example, you would be given 27 points for that game (comes out to 26.25, round up to 27). |

Philly's comeback saved me and had my picks go from "LMAO!!!!" to just "LOL!!!"

Thus far I have 64 points going into tonight. Thankfully Philadelphia remembered they were playing football. |
Quote:
As unpredictable as first weeks generally are, I did well. 58 total. |
Quote:
So my score is 83 (points alone) - 20 (guessing the SF-Dallas game exactly) + 30 (for calling 3 games incorrectly) = 93 total. Did I do it right? |
I was going to answer "Looks good to me" But there's nobodyhere to say it to.
|
Quote:
assuming I did that right, I will be thrilled with a 55 for week 1. |
Quote:
20 + 48 + 32 - 4 = 96 Thank god for Denver-Indy, though it would have been really helpful if Indy could have failed a two point conversion there somewhere. |
My score for the week was 0
|
I got out with less than 100...somehow.

7+13 = 20 Quote:
6+2= 8 25-1+20+8 = 52 This might have been my best week ever. |
Quote:
+6 for the Sunday night game means I finished with 70 points. I'll take it. |
Quote:
6 + 34 + 36 + 3 = 79 Lucky my Philly and Denver picks kept my number manageable. |
Quote:
 You can still predict the two games tonight. |
Quote:
Sunday night game earned me a -20 +54 for the week. |
