FIFA 15

Got it yesterday around 1PM. Been playing non-stop. I'm on PC, ryanivr on Origin. Let's play!

Balldog 09-23-2014 02:50 PM

Just got it today for ps 4
Ready to go home and check it out!

cartman 09-23-2014 02:53 PM

Got it on the Xbox One. Started up a new Player career. Only have gotten one game in, but the gameplay seems a lot smoother and I'm liking the new animations. They are really starting to do some cool stuff with the Ignite engine.

DaddyTorgo 09-23-2014 02:53 PM

I didn't make it to the gym at lunchtime so I have to go now before I can go and get my copy. Grrrr

MacroGuru 09-23-2014 03:13 PM

My gamefly copy shipped, I won't be able to play it for like 12 days because I will be on the road for work.

It's very good so far. My biggest issue is I'm stuck between Pro and World Class difficulty. I feel its very easy on Pro and very hard on World Class. Waiting for a slider set to really dig in to Career Mode, but I have been playing a Player Career Mode that is very fun as a created player on Derby.

What I typically do with the game is a co-op career with a buddy of mine. We each create players, add them to a lower EPL team, and then play through a bunch of seasons, each player locking to our created player. It's a lot of fun.

DaddyTorgo 09-23-2014 07:12 PM

I need to work on my defense on World Class. I just gave up 4 goals to a lower division club (scored 7 at least) in 2 20min halves

DaddyTorgo 09-23-2014 07:17 PM

there's also definitely a FK-bug even though I downloaded the update file.

scored a 30+ yd grounded FK that went thru the GKs legs and off the woodwork and in.

Radii 09-23-2014 07:55 PM

So in FIFA 14, on PC at least, when I promoted in Career Mode, I didn't get any more money, or any bigger wage budget, it kind of killed the fun of progression for me. Any idea if that works right this year?

Also on PC Ultimate Team is reported to be a shitshow of cheating that EA doesn't care about since their focus is on console. Anyone who follows the PC edition know anything about that and if its supposedly being improved any?

Balldog 09-23-2014 10:28 PM

Played a home game with Ajax, scored a goal and something cool happened. Will leave it at that. :)

Overall so far so good. Focused on doing more drills than anything, some of the passing drills are quite addicting.

DaddyTorgo 09-23-2014 10:41 PM

I need to get better at defending.

EagleFan 09-24-2014 12:09 AM

Does it play like soccer? Someone here was telling me that it plays less like a Sim than previous years. If it plays more like soccer and not like the pinball game of the early FIFA games it may be my reward that I pick up for myself when I come home.

I think so - with some slider tweaks for sure.

DaddyTorgo 09-24-2014 08:14 AM

small sample size, but I found dipping down to "Pro" to result in fewer ridiculous unmarked AI runs and lasers from distance.

And I still had enough difficulty scoring using Orion's sliders that it played a good game - 1-0 victory in the Italian Super Cup with roughly equal possession and a few chances for Napoli.

So maybe I'll play on Pro until there's some tweaks to sliders or patches to address the way "World Class" turns your defenders into turnstiles.

I've only played 5 games of online seasons thus far, but I love the passing mechanics. One touch passing and the AI of moving into spaces seems great. It's not that one touch passing makes things easy, persay, because you leave yourself open for counter-attacks, but I find myself being able to use the middle of the pitch much more often than in recent years. Long shots also seem more difficult for players who aren't top class, which I definitely appreciate.

The only buggy thing I've encountered thus far was in my first match, where Szczesny should have picked up a ball rolling towards him and instead strafed right by it, allowing an attacker to come and pick it up and slot it in easily.

I haven't really messed around with new things you can do on FK, but I've already had a couple headers off corners so not in a huge rush there.

I've never been good at FK before, no matter how many video tutorials I watched, but I put my first or second one off the bar last night.

Loving that with the one-touch and with the improved physics and ability to shield/control the ball you can actually get the AI to foul you now too.

cartman 09-24-2014 12:11 PM

I do like the new animations. I went up for a header and got my legs taken out from underneath and landed awkwardly on my arm. I thought, "ooh, that looks like it hurt". Sure enough, my player didn't get up and right after that the red cross appeared. A broken elbow, out for 2 months.

DaddyTorgo 09-24-2014 12:18 PM

Now that I've hopefully dialed in on a difficulty level I'm looking forward to ripping off a ton of games tonight.

For people playing the PC Version, how good does it seem? Does it appear all features that are available in the console version are available in the PC version?

Thinking of going with the PC version, but want to be sure nothing big missing.

I'm pretty sure it is an exact port of the Xbone/Ps4 version.

Lathum 01-15-2015 11:05 AM

I just got it for PS4 and started a career as manager of Cardiff City. Can anyone give me a good rundown of how the transfer system works? Or maybe a link to a strategy guide?

I don't know how it works in real life, so I am all thumbs at it. I set up my scout network, so there are guys being scouted. I'm just not sure how to buy players and what happends when I do.

I have nothing to add about the game, but congratulations on an excellent choice of club

Still loving this game.

There's two transfer "windows" - 1 in the offseason, and 1 in January. Outside of these you won't be buying/selling players.

You'll want to set your scouting network to scout countries (and then further to file individual reports on any guys that you think look promising) decently in advance of each window, as it's not instantaneous (there's a lag between when you tell them to scout a guy and when they finish, so don't think you can load up on guys to scout on December 25th and have a ton of reports on 1/1).

You should absolutely use the scouting filters to look for positions where you seem weak (based on your top-line talent and/or your backup talent on your squad), and for a newbie, definitely make use of the "first team player/promising youngster/world class" designations to help narrow down the field faster.

The revamped transfer system is pretty neat about giving you access to a narrow pool of players so you won't be overwhelmed.

I just picked up on the Xbox one since it was 50% off with the ultimate team packs. I'm still pretty bad playing on semi pro, but if someone wants an online game look me up after 10 est each night.

Sadly I've had this on the XBox One for quite a while now and not got around to taking out of the wrapping yet ... far too busy ...
