Kodos 09-30-2014 06:38 AM

Fuck. I'm still an IU football fan.

tarcone 09-30-2014 11:08 AM

LOL, Kodos.
Iowa on a bye this week. Then Homecoming and the fabled Hoosiers come to town.

Im just a college football fan this week. No allegiance to anyone.

Kodos 09-30-2014 11:10 AM

Root for the Hoosiers to help your S.O.S.!

I do feel like Mrs. Ray Rice right now. Battered, knocked out, still walking down the aisle.

digamma 09-30-2014 11:39 AM

Georgia Tech vs. Miami Saturday night in Atlanta. GT has a shot to take an early lead in the Coastal, but they haven't beaten Miami since 2008.

Matthean 09-30-2014 12:04 PM

Kind of curious to see how Michigan plays after last week.

On BTN yesterday, they said the Indiana game is likely the only game Michigan will be favored in for the rest of the season.

:banghead:

Suicane75 09-30-2014 12:06 PM

Having watched both team play football, I don't see why they would be favored in that one. Do they not play Purdue?

Kodos 09-30-2014 12:09 PM

I don't think they do. Purdue and North Texas may be the only games where Indiana is favored to win.

They don't in part because Purdue is in the West.

Matthean 09-30-2014 12:12 PM

FYI, Michigan's best chance is starting Gardner and just accepting him for what he is this year. If Morris starts for the rest of the year, it is going to be a long season.

Kodos 09-30-2014 12:13 PM

Maybe Gunner Kiel can transfer in!

Easy Mac 09-30-2014 12:27 PM

Furman gets to be destroyed at home again, this time by Coastal Carolina. We've scored 6 offensive TDs in 5 games. Not 6 TDs in each of 5 games, but 6 TDs total. We lost to a team we haven't lost to in 35 years, and another we hadn't lost to at home in 20 years.

How good is Coastal?

Very Very good :) I haven't been bragging about them like I've done in the past, but they are at their highest rank ever #3 in the polls, and have had just one game where they could have easily lost. Big South Conference is looking a lot tougher than ever though-Liberty was ranked for a while, and nemesis Charleston Southern is ranked this week for the first time after going 5-0. I'm nothing close to a NFL scout, but keep an eye on LB Quinn Backus at the next draft-he might become the best NFL player Coastal has ever had.

Even though I am finishing up a work project and planning on heading to bed, it's tempting to totally throw tomorrow down the toilet in order to stay up and watch the AZ-Oregon second half. 7-3 at halftime means it is setup for some fireworks.

2nd half is bringing the offense so far... Although Oregon was gifted that last touchdown (very weak taunting call after an Arizona 3rd down stop.)

BishopMVP 10-03-2014 12:26 AM

Dola - yeah, I'd say this 2nd half is living up to expectations.

Why can't Michigan get a coach like this U Arizona guy?

kingfc22 10-03-2014 12:34 AM

Pac 12 officials. LOL.

YUP

Officials just "made up" for that bad unsportsmanlike call on Arizona earlier, and then some. Hope this game goes to OT.

It's beginning to look like the problem part of Michigan/richrod fiasco was michigan .

Partly, but he definitely had issues with his defense, particularly DB's. In retrospect, the offense certainly appeared to be clicking by the end of his tenure.

BTW, I saw Notre Dame fell behind UCLA in the AP poll despite winning - is that just evidence of anti-ND bias by the pollsters? Or is it cool that they dropped a top 10 team down after an unimpressive win?

MrBug708 10-03-2014 01:16 AM

I don't follow ND so I can't speak of the specifics but I hope there is some Anti-ND sentiment among pollsters

mauchow 10-03-2014 06:05 AM

Okay then. College football is here now.

Lathum 10-03-2014 06:08 AM

The offense was only really good against bad teams. He could have gotten away with a lot if he had gotten a new DC, but the offense still wasn't quite there yet.

It will be interesting to see if this helps or hurts MSU's chance at a playoff spot.

Arles 10-03-2014 10:25 AM

Great win by Arizona last night - didn't make it onto the board with the Pack and Zona winning. The officials were pretty bad - Oregon got screwed on the taunting and Arizona got screwed on the 3rd down stop "unsportsmanlike" phantom call as well. Still, Oregon had the ball with 2:40 left and a chance to to tie and go into OT. Great stop by the Arizona defense and that Oregon OL has some issues.

It will be interested to see how the whole Oregon/Stanford/UCLA group pans out. Arizona should have a good season for our normal standards, but I can't see this team (esp the defense) contending for the Pac-12. Great win though - that's two in a row against Oregon and let's hope Rich-Rod stays in Tucson for a while!

That offense is scary when you consider Solomon is just a RS-Fr and pretty much the entire WR group (sans Hill) are Sophomores, plus Wilson at RB is a true frosh.

Far be it from me to ever defend Rich Rod...but anyone who has followed his career would tell you he essentially tolerates D because he has to do something between offensive possessions. That said he inherited a pretty bare cupboard there.

If Michigan fans would have gotten out of the way and gave him 5 years like he said from day 1 before they started grumbling they would have been in a BCS game by now. I truly believe he is that good of a HC.

Arles 10-03-2014 12:25 PM

Don't get a lot of top 5 road wins, so it's time to live it up!

Michigan beat VT in the Sugar Bowl 23-20. I'm sure most try not to remember it due to how brutally ugly it was.

Unless you meant concurrently, it really hasn't been that long

Miss State #13 Oct 21, 2012
Ole Miss #4 Sept 20, 2009 (was in the pre-season top 10)

BYU 14 10-04-2014 12:24 PM

Indulge me, because I have to say this here instead of the BYU boards or I will get boxed......for about the 18th time.

3/4 of BYU 'fans' are fucking negative, clueless idiots that think reading Football for dummies while sipping a decaffeinated latte at Barnes and Noble makes you a fucking expert.

Those cocksuckers are like the June Cleaver version of Philly fans with how fast they turn on a team, all the venom, none of the profanity.

Myself and Macroguru are excluded from that 75% of course :)

Damn that loss hurt though!

Karlifornia 10-04-2014 12:36 PM

Stanford vs. Papists. Put all your money's down on Stanford

tarcone 10-04-2014 01:37 PM

Mississippi St. is now my 2nd favorite team. Yep, jumping on the bandwagon.

JonInMiddleGA 10-04-2014 02:35 PM

A grim reminder of just how bare a cupboard Butch Jones inherited in Knoxville.

An abysmal loss to a pretty bad team, sucks every bit of momentum out I'm afraid. Bowl hopes now come down to upsetting teams that are considerable better than the one they just lost to at home, no realistic reason that I can see to believe that's going to happen.

Are they better? Yes. Are they actually any good? No, not at this point.

tarcone 10-04-2014 02:58 PM

My top 4 is definitely evolving.

Oregon has already lost. At the moment FSU, Bama and Oklahoma are all trailing.

I wonder how many times that's happened to the top four teams.

Won't end up like that most likely but wouldn't it be something to see?
