Watching FOF on Steam

Randomly thinking out loud. I know you can "watch" other people play games on Steam, it should work for FOF as well. Not sure if this has been discussed, but it might be of interest for "live" presentations of playoff games or championship games in MP. Perhaps group-thinks as well.

Interesting thought.

I'll bring the beer. Just let me know when and where.

I like the idea. I have thought about offering to "host" the bowl game for some of the leagues I'm in using GoToMeeting, but never carved out the time to make that happen.

We did something like this many moons ago in the RNFL...never got much response, but it was enjoyable for the few that showed up.

Bump.

Has anyone tried the Steam Broadcast feature with FOF7? It works for me for Civ4 (much older game) but I can't broadcast FOF7. Anything I need to fix to make that work, or is it dead in the water?

If nobody gets an answer I will test it tonight.

We use twitch.tv with our live coaching draft in theCFL so I bet it works the same.

Twitch uses a stand alone program like OBS to capture the window(s) you choose. Not sure how steam streaming works.

Oh man, maybe need to get in on this action. Aston, make it happen!

Just ran a test with 'Banished' and 'FOF7' and Banished worked perfectly and FOF7 failed. My initial guess is that FOF7 is removed completely from the Steam Environment during launch where other games has some of tie-in...couldn't explain what that means though.

It works if you setup steam broadcast to display your desktop I believe.
