Hot or Not: The Sun

NobodyHere 04-01-2015 08:42 PM

The surface temp is a balmy 5778 kelvin

Ironhead 04-01-2015 09:05 PM

Uneven surface. Would not bang.

Autumn 04-01-2015 09:07 PM

Okay, this is cracking me up.

EagleFan 04-01-2015 09:15 PM

Run of the mill star, wouldn't even look twice at it if you saw it with some of the hotter stars. Anyone who thinks it is hot has only grown to feel that way, after seeing it day in and day out for what must seem like their entire life. Eventually you start to think it is hotter than it really is.

(trust me, after the past few months it ain't so hot...)

The Jackal 04-01-2015 09:16 PM

I voted for fried fish.

Groundhog 04-01-2015 09:30 PM

I like my stars how I like my women - black dwarfs.

My thoughts exactly. I have lots of yellow stars as friends. I am not against seriously dating a yellow star. But I just need to find the right star that empowers me. The Sun might work for a guy from Krypton, but I am just looking for something different

Shkspr 04-02-2015 12:19 AM

It'd be hotter if it was binary.

Qwikshot 04-02-2015 05:48 AM

I've got a report on the sun and man it's hot!"

Kodos 04-02-2015 07:28 AM

The Sun can warm my globe any time.

Peregrine 04-02-2015 07:32 AM

I hear this sun is not loyal to one partner - warms whatever planets are around with its rays.

Kodos 04-02-2015 07:35 AM

Some day, she'll probably grow so big that our planet will be totally engulfed in her.

Carman Bulldog 04-02-2015 09:21 AM

I had always thought the old adage "Good from afar but far from good" applied. I originally voted Not but noticed that's an old pic from 2010 or so. I think the Sun is definitely getting hotter every year. And while being a bit bigger, the Sun has almost perfect curves. I also don't want to get into personality too much, but I really like the energy the Sun gives off.

For those voting Not, I can understand where you're coming from. You probably see the Sun every day, usually for extended periods. I'm wondering though if you have really tried to check out the eyes of the Sun. That's where the fun is.

Not sure about this - don't you find the Sun's eyes to be a burning, painful glare? I mean it's hard to even look directly at it more than a few seconds - that could be hard in any relationship.

JPhillips 04-02-2015 09:48 AM

Bullshit. All of you saying you wouldn't tan with this sun are total liars. Don't act like you could walk up to any sun you wanted and get a nice almond tone. Every one of you would lay down in Sol's warm embrace.

Last time I tried this, I got burned really bad.
Stay way.

Yeah you can kinda tell she's gonna get fat when she gets older. Which reduces her hotness to me.

Grover 04-02-2015 12:48 PM

the voting right now seems a little... neutral.

nol 04-02-2015 12:50 PM

If the sun's supposed to be so dang hot, how do you explain this?

Warhammer 04-02-2015 01:25 PM

If this can't crack my sun filter, how hot can it be, definitely not hot. I've see hitter stuff at the Big Bang Burger Joint.

QuikSand 04-02-2015 01:40 PM

Definitely not hot.

ColtCrazy 04-02-2015 01:50 PM

Let's see. Volatile temperatures. Prone to flare-ups. Dangerous to be around too long, but you can't live without it. Sounds like the perfect crazy-hot girlfriend. I vote hot.

EagleFan 04-02-2015 01:53 PM

But you know the sun's going to implode one day and kill everyone. A little too much crazy on that crazy to hot scale.

Yeah, but Andromeda will careen into us first. So... you know.

mckerney 04-02-2015 02:36 PM

No. I guess if the Sun were the only star you ever saw I could see you voting Hot, but compared to other stars out there the Sun is really a Not.

How hot can a star be?

Quote:

Some stars can be about 200,000,000 (200 million) degrees inside, and the Sun is around 25,000,000 (25 million) degrees at its core.

britrock88 04-06-2015 11:35 AM

Just like all the other HoN threads... of course the sun's hot, but some people are going to say otherwise just because there may be other, hotter stars out there.

That pic is from 2010. I doubt it's aged well over the last four years.

Jughead Spock 04-06-2015 01:21 PM

I swear, you can just put up any big orbs in space and some of y'all would think it's hot.

Kodos 04-06-2015 02:06 PM

Don't even get me started on failed stars like Jupiter...
