Go see this movie. In a theater. Preferably a big one with a good sound system. But regardless, go see it. It will assault your senses like nothing else you've seen.

Havent seen a movie this year in the theater.

Planning on driving to the nearest IMAX for this one which is over an hour.

Expectation level is very high.

Between work and my classes I've missed the big movies that I would normally go see the past few months (Hobbit, Avengers). I got out to see Imitation Game and that's it lately. But, wow, Mad Max has a 99 on rotten tomatoes right now. That's impressive alone.

Yeah saw the advance screening of this. Definitely a theatre movie. Enjoyed it a lot!

That's a given for me. There are very few movies where 3D is worth it to me. I can't stand the gimmick part of 3D (spears in your face, etc.). I would only accept 3D if showing it really adds depth to the viewing experience. Gravity was a great example of a movie where it was worth it to see in 3D.

Such movies are few and far between and certainly outside of that, spending an extra $3-5 is a ridiculous additional expenditure for 3D.

I'll be seeing this one this weekend for sure (in 2D).

I didn't even know there was a 3D version of the movie. I can tell you that the 2D experience is awesome and plenty intense. In fact, the only movie I can think of that compares in terms of visceral, intense experience is Aliens, and that one falls short.

To me, and I know everyone says Avatar, but The Adventures of Tin Tin was the best 3D experience I've had.

I remember when that came out, but never saw it. I didn't even know they had that in 3D.

Yeah, I know Avatar has been mentioned. Interstellar has been, too.

It really needs to be very visual movies with deep landscapes to deserve a good 3D experience.

Coraline was great in 3D.

Caught it last night in 2D. I think I just set the bar way too high, and sadly ended up being a little underwhelmed. The action is fantastic, but after a while it gets kinda repetitious. I sum it up as a mediocre masterpiece.

I know the movie won't appeal to everyone, but I can't think of any other movie I've seen where the experience of watching it felt so visceral, and in exiting the theater you felt like you survived watching it as much as anything else. It's just a full-out assault on the senses. I went on a company outing to it last night, and pretty much every one of us had a similar reaction.

It's a bizarre universe you're thrust into, and the story isn't anything revolutionary, nor does it likely hold up all that well to close scrutiny, but it just doesn't matter. The universe Miller creates is creative enough you're willing to buy into it, and he executes so well on what the story is that you just take accept how ridiculous and over-the-top it is.

My gf said it was absurd as I am, she didn't like it. If she doesn't like absurd is she just dating me to try to change me.

Saw it 3D. Didn't add anything. "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'houle" (sp.) was one of the few films I've seen where 3D really, really made a positive difference.

As for the movie itself, nope. 115 minutes of action and 5 minutes of story (oh, and about 35 seconds of a forced love story angle that was laughably bad). That's just not enough to sustain interest.

Now, the opening scene, the world it created, all very, very solid. Stark and beautiful and ugly all at the same time. Mesmerizing. But wasted. As soon as the picture was set and it turned to action ... yes it was visually stunning, but also viscerally ugly at times, gross and stupid way too often (like watching the original "Dune" all over again), but honestly, you gotta care about the characters to make the action compelling. And while Charlize Theron was a good heroine, Max himself was a waste, and the girls in the backseat were dreadful. Just watching insane, malformed zealots scream and try to kill characters you don't really care about over and over and over and over and over ... yeah, not gonna do it for me.

You don't go to this movie for the story. The costumes are nice, the scenery ridiculous, the visual effects carry the movie, the sound effects can be overwhelming. The plotline is non-existent. It won't be Charlize Theron's most memorable role. Heck, if you like, do it for glancing at the super models. I know we had some good laughs. And I'll sheepishly admit I actually tried to dodge stuff that flew "off" the screen in 3D. The action movie fans of our group loved it, the story line people shrugged at it. Me, I went in there to get 2 hours of entertainment, they flew by and I had to conclude I was entertained. I rated it a 7 out of 10.

Girlfriend didn't like it but I thought it was one of the best action movies we've had in years.

Kind of surprised that it's sitting at 98% on Rotten Tomatoes though. I mean it's great for an action movie but didn't think a movie like that would get universal praise.

I thought it was terrific.

To each their own, but I have no idea why anyone goes into this looking for a story. It's just an excuse to have massive action.

If you go in preparing to be entertained, then youre happy.

This is not Citizen Kane.

The movie is pure non-stop systematic madness with a brief 10 minute intermission.

What a fun fucking ride.

I went last night with my wife. Her comment was "I knew how it would end."
Well, yeah, it was pretty obvious. But the ride to that point was fun. I was entertained. I think my expectation for total non-stop action was a little high. But I love me a good car chase movie. And this was a good one.

I think when I first saw that, I kinda giggled like a school girl. So ridiculous and stupid, and yet so strangely awesome.

Yeah, my first time seeing it I was thinking "Really?", and then I thought "Actually, yeah - this works and totally fits"

I figured though after all day riding and playing that he'd have to slow down, but no, he kept churning out the power chords

Decent enough movie. Spectacular to look at but the story seemed a little thin.

Walking out of the theater I felt like I just watched a 2 hour version of the gimp scene in pulp fiction... And I love it.

Agreed, saw it last week and toned my expectations down for anything more than a two hour gore/crash/explosionfest and glad I did. Allowed me to enjoy it for what it was, wife, not enamored at all.

Funny, my wife loved it more than I did. :lol:
