It's Rice. No question. After that, who knows. Harrison was a great receiver with deceptive speed and incredible hands. Cris Carter and Reggie Wayne are the best 3rd down receivers I've seen. Moss was a great deep threat. So many good ones. But Rice could do all of that.

When it's all said and done, it'll be Megatron.

The only way you can argue Randy Moss is how he made receivers around him better simply by being there and affecting the defense. But his penchant for taking plays off kills it for him, in my mind.

Rice for now, but by the time Megatron's career is over, you can't go wrong arguing either one.

Without a doubt it is Rice. He was splitting catches with some pretty darn good WRs as well. Mine underrated guy is Isaac Bruce, I wonder what he would have done had he not languished for years on a poor Rams team in the 90s and not battled hamstring injuries for several years.

Most talented and gifted ever? Probably.
Best? Nope.

My ideal WR Core, bearing in mind who I've actually seen play the game would be:

1st WR - Jerry Rice
2nd Slot Guy - Hines Ward
3rd WR - Stretch the Field Make teh Big Plays Guy - Randy Moss
4th WR Possession Guy, get past the sticks, etc - Wayne Chrebet

I'd actually replace #4 with Keyshawn Johnson...believe it or not...but agree with 1-3. (I like gritty WR who can catch and block and KJ was the best at it...maybe because I saw him play so much).

Agree! How he was defended changed the entire defense.

I will go with Rice based on the consistency/ring factor however.

Rice, Moss and Hutson are all worthy, but Rice piled up so many yards it is ridiculous. On sheer talent, Moss hands down. On how far ahead of his peers he was, Hutson was like a god among men.

Right on. I think Calvin Johnson is the only guy whose physical tools rival Moss's. But Rice is still comfortably the best, greatest, and most.

I'm all on board with Jerry Rice, but I'm surprised there isn't any love for Terrell Owens. I mean he even made the Eagles good.

Maybe not the GOAT, but one of the most transformational to the game was Bob Hayes. He's one of the main reasons for the proliferation of zone defenses. He averaged 20 yards per catch over his career.

But TBH, I do think QB has a lot to do with it and he lucked out with Montana. If it was Montana with Chris Carter, Calvin Johnson, Randy Moss etc. would we be talking about a different guy.
