Official 2015 College Football Week 8 thread
Only one match up between Top 25 teams on the slate this weekend:
Texas A&M at Mississippi |
IU's gonna beat MSU. Sure.
|
MD vs. Penn State. No team on earth I hate more.
|
Iowa on a bye. Need this to heal. A bye week didn't come at a better time ever.
See my post in week 7. I laid out how excited I am about the rest of this season. |
Clemson travels to Miami to play in front of the hundreds and hundreds of angry Cane fans sure to pack Sun Life Stadium.
In related news injured C Ryan Norton is back, but has lost his job to the backup Jay Guillermo and Clemson fans have universally rejoiced. Plus their best DT DJ Reader who has missed the season to date while he attended to personal problems, returns this week. He wont start, or play many meaningful snaps this week, but will provide good depth as we get closer to a showdown with FSU. |

Yes, Ole Miss is definitely a "Top 25" team and not just ranked here due to SEC bias. I mean, they beat Alabama! You could go 1-11 and still get ranked 25 just on that fact alone, apparently. |
Quote:
I've got a good feeling about Iowa at IU in a couple weeks. I say we'll pull the upset. |
Wagner @ BYU...that's right, we get an FCS school in the middle of our schedule.
This came about due to the Mizzou game we ended up adding to the schedule this season. We had Southern Miss cancel our series, then we had to move the UNLV game to another season after Mizzou reached out to us and we accepted the game (11/14) and had a gap to fill and with short notice and availability this week, it was an FCS school that is getting all costs covered by both BYU and Mizzou. |
Quote:
All right, well, tell them dirty Cougar players that those Wagner kids probably aren't going to the pros, so go easy on them!... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. J/K Dennis! :D |
Quote:
LOL! I do look at this as a week of healing as we hit one of the weaker parts of our schedule. We go Wagner BYE @ San Jose @ Mizzou (Actually Chiefs Stadium) Fresno State @ Utah State I have Wagner, San Jose and Fresno pegged as W's. I think we can catch Mizzou with the way they are playing this year and then Utah State is a Jekyll and Hyde team. They just curb stomped BSU and they will always play us tough. |

Anyone find a line yet? Had -62.5 after I ran my numbers and just laughed at it. |
Quote:
If they can score 70 they might. |

Iowa is good for losing a game they should win. So I don't take anything for granted. And Indiana always plays Iowa tough. So this would t shock me. |
Ohio State coming to town. I just hope we don't get embarrassed again.
|
Good 1st quarter. Keep it up, Tigers!
|
I think I might change my mind about erecting a border fence, as long as Al Golden is on the other fucking side of it.
|
Quote:
I think it worked out okay for 'em ;) |
I generally hate firing a coach midseason in college unless scandal is involved, but I think this might be it for Al Golden.
|
Quote:
He can go to the unemployment office with Joe Philbin! |
I guess today will help people understand why the "Fire Golden" banners were flying earlier this year
|
Coastal Carolina beat upset-minded Monmouth (who had just upset then #25 Liberty last week) 23-20 with a FG late in the 4th quarter.
|
This Missouri offense.. or should I say... WHAT FREAKING OFFENSE???
|

I thought this Lock kid was supposed to be the second-coming or something. And I'm not so much giving you crap as I am asking somewhat seriously. I know the best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores but, uh, looking at the box score I mean damn. |

He overthrew maybe a TD or two today for sure. It's going to take him some time. Either he's getting worse or we just have no receivers. We don't even try to run the football anymore.. Pinkel is getting desperate. Dare I say... maybe we need Mauk back.:p:devil::lol: |
NCAAF College Football Scores - NCAAF Scoreboard - ESPN
Hey ESPN...Maryland is in the conference now, you can go ahead and include the Big 10 records for the PSU/Maryland game. |
I don't even know why I bother watching anymore.
|
Wow - what an end to the FSU/GT game!
|
Well that was unexpected. (Please don't extend CPJ base on this game).
Reminds me of the Auburn / Alabama play from a few years ago. FSU, like Bama, reacted too slowly to stop the return. I think they expected the ball to just roll dead like happens after most blocks that go beyond the line of scrimmage. |
Burn dumpster fire burn!
Go Jackets. |
As I said in earlier thread, how much more can you expect from GT. Bad luck here and there, then a major upset.

Tech radio of the final play
SoundCloud - Hear the world’s sounds |
Freshman linebacker Cameron Smith had an incredible game last night with 3 interceptions including a pick 6 as USC took down Utah, 42-24.
|
Was a great game to be at last night (GT, not Rutgers). With Ole Miss beating a "top ranked" A&M team that was in no way overrated, and Utah losing, does that give Mississippi the chance to move in to the 3rd spot? My guess is that A&M falls to 18 and Ole Miss jumps up to 12.
|
All I know is that I have heard various people on ESPN talk about how the Clemson-Miami game really didn't tell you anything about Clemson as much as it told you that Miami is actually really bad... And that Clemson wouldn't reach the playoff even if they go undefeated now because FSU lost to Georgia Tech and that will hurt Clemson's strength of schedule too much.
But nary a peep about Alabama's super strong five point win over a "great" Tennessee team. ESPN is reaching Fox News level of spin. |
Quote:
It is tough to take the playoff seriously when ESPN is obviously in the SEC's pocket. |
Quote:
Wilson had money on that game |
Quote:
Umm ... this went on their site hours ago. I saw it last night Alabama's playoff stock continues roller-coaster ride against Tennesse - SEC Blog - ESPN |
Quote:
Root for Ole Miss to win out. Then they have to try to shoehorn the Alabama/LSU winner into a playoff bid when Ole Miss is the division champ (that lost to Memphis) |
Quote:
Shhhh... He's ironically an Ohio State fan complaining about teams not worthy of their over ranking. |
Quote:
He is? Can you point out where he is complaining about rankings? |
Sounds like Golden is out at Miami.
|
Golden is out. Maybe it's best for schools wanting to make a change to do that mid-season. The recruiting timeline is perhaps more important than the game timeline once you've had your season-crushing loss.
Clemson is putting up legitimate numbers. I have them #1 (the lowest of the five measures I use has them #6) - and they're a solid #1 in the aggregated computer rankings by a decent margin. I have their schedule at #42, but Ohio State is #39. The Pac 12 is cannibalizing and the Big 12 heavies haven't played a single game with each other yet. So if Clemson remains undefeated, it would be astonishing to me if they weren't in. |

About halfway up the page. |

I don't think mid-season firings are good in college football. Recruiting pretty much comes to a halt until the replacement is hired. The longer that takes the more time other schools have to recruit your committed players. In the end, getting the hire right is more important than one recruiting class though. |
Quote:
I have not watched ESPN all day and I don't know how yesterday's game affect Clemson but I can confirm that Miami is horrible. |
And now coachless.

Interesting that both the Dolphins and Hurricanes replaced their head coaches with their tight end coaches.
