NFL Almost League
It's the day before Thanksgiving, I'm stuck in the office and bored, so I decided to come up with something to do...(hopefully, this doesn't jinx me and my network goes down)...
What I ended up with was using What If Sports to run a sim season of football teams that were consistently in the playoffs, but couldn't make it to the Superbowl for some reason. The teams I chose were: NFC 2012 Atlanta Falcons - made playoffs 4 times in 5 years after the debacle of Vick and Petrino. Blew big lead in the NFC Championship, but still probably win if Ryan doesn't fumble a snap or if pass interference is called on the White crossing pattern. 1992 Philadelphia Eagles - Buddy Ryan's Eagles, consistently in the playoffs from late 80s to early 90s. Finally won a playoff game in 1992, only to lose to the eventual Superbowl Champ Cowboys the next week. 1991 New Orleans Saints - led by a fantasic defense that included HOF caliber linebackers, the Saints were in the playoffs 3 straight years, but their anemic offense held them back 1993 Detriot Lions - Barry Sanders - enough said (that might be about all they had too - but it was good enough for 2 division titles in 3 years, and several more playoff appearances) 1970 San Francisco 49ers - 3 straight division titles in the early 70s, but playoff progress blocked all 3 years by the Cowboys AFC 1979 Houston Oilers - Love Ya Blue - Earl Campbell, Bum Phillips, and a great team blocked by the Steeler Dynasty 1986 Cleveland Browns - Fantastic team, that was so close to the Superbowl numerous times. Lucky for them, John Elway is not in this league 1980 San Diego Chargers - Air Coryell...3 straight division titles and 4 straight years in the playoffs. Won 3 playoff games, but couldn't win the second to make it to the Superbowl 1993 Kansas City Chiefs - 7 playoff appearances in 8 years...constantly knocking on the door, but the Bills and Dolphins knocked them out of the playoffs twice each. 2010 New York Jets - back to back appearances in the AFC Championship game, despite having to come from the wild card round each year. I'm currently planning to play in division twice and other division one time for a total of 13 games, and then match the top team in each division for the championship. It may not come to that depending on my time (or it might take a while to complete - but I'm entering this with good intentions) Feel free to make your predictions and root for your favorite team.... |

Good stuff Breeze. I've got to root for my Chiefs, even though they're already 1 loss in the hole. For the NFC, either Sanders and Detroit, or Tony G and Atlanta. I think Gonzalez was with the Falcons in 2012 anyways

He was...through 2 games he has 7-166, but no TDs
